torn knee miniscus
Anybody deal with this? Mine is really bothering me. I am in so much pain and have been doing physical therapy for a few weeks and I am hurting even more. I have such a problem driving because it kills me to have my leg in that postion. Now it's starting to lock into a certain position and not let me move.
But I am nervous too because I've heard some people have the surgery and it hasn't helped at all. What is your situation? TIA!!

I tore my meniscus about 10 years ago so I can relate. I remember mine hurting for a while but it eventually got much better.
I elected not to have surgery because I felt it wasn't bothering me enough to get it. Now my knee is doing pretty well (I think because a lot of scar tissue has built up in there ) but I can exercise and even run without it bothering me. At times however if I sit the wrong way my knee does sometimes come apart or something goes out of place that it KILLS but again it's just for a second and then the pain goes away.
Don't know if this was the answer you were looking for I hope you feel better soon!!

Re: torn knee miniscus
my DH has one- he was told he would need surgey
not sure why the surgey wouldn't work? his doctor did a spinal fusion on him in dec and that was a success
the sugrey is very minor- same day (or minor compared to what we have been thru)
it hasn't been hurting him this week- and he is no longer on medicine for his neck- so we are holding out for now

Re: torn knee miniscus
My DH tore his in Nov. and he had surgery in Jan. The first night he was in a lot of pain but he just went to sleep. The next day he was able to semi walk on it, but it was so swollen he couldn't straighten his leg. After a week he was walking fine and start physical therapy. His knee still looks a little swollen but he doesn't have any pain unless he moves it the wrong way. When they went into do the surgery they realized the tear was worse than they thought, and they also had to scrape the bone, because he had a bad bone bruise. THe Dr. said that it was more than likely it was caused because he didn't have the surgery right away.
