Re: Tornado touched down in Islip
But LIPA officials reportedly received calls about a tornado knocking down trees and power lines in the Town of Islip, causing massive outages.
Reports were WALK radio -- 97.5 FM -- was even knocked off the air.
The bad news regarding all the bad news is that the National Weather Service is predicting the thunderstorms will continue on and off throughout the day and into the evening, which figures to make the already bad situation even worse as we approach the evening commute.

Re: Tornado touched down in Islip
I was just at the Stop and Shop in East Islip and saw a reporter from Channel 2 interviewing a couple in the parking lot. Then, on the Sunrise service road, I saw trucks from Channel 2 and 4.
I hadn't heard about the tornado, so I thought it was odd to see the news trucks. If a tornado did go through that area...it was too dang close to my house!

Re: Tornado touched down in Islip
OMG... I think this must explain all the damage around my kids' camp! There were trees and downed power lines everywhere. There was no power and getting to the school was a maze of flares and roads that were roped off.
That scares the cr#p out of me. Thank God my babies are okay!
