Totally Gross but need help
I think that Henry is eating his poop. He has been having accidents in the house lately and the amount of poop that should be there in relation to the residue on the floor is not. It is sooo gross! Is there anything I can do to make him stop doing this?

I think my aunt's boston terrier used to do this. She said one day it looked like she was out in the backyard "smoking a cigar"
Now she has to clean up after her immediatly - she never leave her poop in the yard. The dog just likes her "cigars"

Re: Totally Gross but need help
Riley did the same thing...well actually now she has moved on to eating our others dogs' poop we tried everything...even getting some powder from the vet, which is supposed to make their poop taste even worse (I can't imagine it tasting very good anyways ) But nothing was working....most people, including our vet said its something that they just grow out of.
SO since that was not a good enough answer, we send her outside with her training collar/impulse collar...and if I see her going to eat her own or our other two dogs poo, then she gets a correction. So far that has been working well.

Re: Totally Gross but need help
There are products you can get that are supposed to deter this behaviour, but so far I have not heard overwhelming success stories with them. Just like any other training, you have to set a routine or catch them in the act. Funny story, a friend of mine has a KCCS and he would eat his poop in the yard. My friend actually started bringing a paper towel out into the yard & would set it underneath where the dog would poo so that he was certain to get all of the poo off the grass. The dog got so used to this routine that he will not poo unless there is a paper towel
Of course this is not what was intended, but my point is that you can with repetition and reward train your dog to leave the poo after doing his business.

That is the funniest story I ever heard.
I can just picture this dog waiting for his paper towel

I think it must be a puggle thing--MIL has a puggle that used to do the same exact thing. It's for this reason that, to this day, we call her "Sh*tty"...affectionately, of course.

Actually it is not funny and quite serious, the puppy can become ill.

Re: Totally Gross but need help
ughhh gross nicole!! i'm so sorry - that sux!! char only did that once - when she was afraid that we were going to yell at her b/c she had an accident inside - it was SO gross but she didn't do it again b/c vin put her face near the rest of it and said NO!!!!! very loud - she never did it again even when she had other accidents.
if that doesn't work then, like others posted, there are products you can buy - i'm not quite sure what they do exactly but ask at the pet store - a guy i used to work with asked at petco and they gave him something that did the trick. that really stinks.

Re: Totally Gross but need help
I had a dog that did this and my friend gave me "Accent" the seasoning to put on her food and she stopped almost immediately.
Hope this works.
