totally NPR - poll (VENT - MIL RELATED) LONG
ok - im not sure what is wrong with my MIL - but I think she is starting to bug out a little ---- she stays with us for the weekends (for 6 months) and things have been ok (besides the fact that it annoys me but...whatever) anyway this past weekend (im 39 weeks) shes just doing things to be spiteful - for example - she did our laundry .... #1 i dont ask her to do it, im capable of doing my own THANK YOU VERY MUCH - but whatever, if she wants to help out then fine..... she's done it previously and everything was ok, i always thank her and bla bla bla right---- so this weekend she does our laundry and she folds all of DH's things away - and she leaves all of his heavy jeans/work clothes in the basket (folded) so im putting it away and underneath his clothes are all mine - just thrown in there - all wrinkled bc DH"s clothes were on top - so she specifically took out all his clothes, folded them, or put them away and left mine in there - wrinkled - so you can imagine how piss*ed off i was because what the heck am i supposed to do now ---- iron my friggin tank tops - so i put all my clothes in the wash & dried them! maybe im just being hormonal but i feel like she did it out of spite. well she had to, why else. THEN........... im resting on the couch (i swelled up this weekend and just feel like crap and ready to go) so she insists that this is the perfect friggin time to teach me how to tie a tie. OK LADY IM 39 WEEKS PREGGO OVER HERE AND I JUST WANNA LAY DOWN AND YOU THINK I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO TIE A TIE............ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! and i tell her, my mom to this day doesnt know how to tie a tie, my dad manages by himself, she says well im gonna teach you and you're going to be bettter then your mom so i say to DH - honey look bc your mom is teaching me, you should learn as well, and he's like MA, LEAVE HER ALONE - I KNOW HOW TO TIE MY TIES, SHE SAYS NO YOU DONT YOU DO IT WITH ONE LOOP AND ITS SUPPOSED TO BE 2. OR SOME BS LIKE THAT. LITERALLY I JUST WANTED TO SCREAM!
can someone tell me what the heck is wrong with people?
someone give me the patience to try to deal with her for the next 3 months!!!! (weekends only) lol
one last thing --------- sorry i just have to add it to get it all out --- DH installed the car seat this weekend, and shes in the back seat last night and says --- are you sure this type of car seat is safe for the child? bc its in the sitting position. i tell her, this is the only way they will let your baby out of the hospital, is if you have this infant carrier with you.... she says well in poland they wouldnt do this,,, my daughter when she gave birth they used the bassinet top strapped in the backseat. WE"RE NOT IN POLAND - WE'RE IN AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Please help me.
thanks for reading

Ohhhhh man- I really feel for you!!! I would've knocked her out by now!
ETA: And for the record, no, I don't know how to tie a tie. DH doesn't need one for anything but special occasions and he manages just fine on his own!

First off, tons of hugs your way. I think being 39w pregnant just makes it even worse bc everything will get on your last nerve (I am dealing with it at almost 38w pregnant)
I do not know how to tie a tie. DH does it himself & does a great job. There is no need for me to know. Even when our DS starts to wear them, my DH will do it.

Wow that definitely is spiteful! I'm sorry you have to go through this when you're so close to the end. I would try to just zone her out and concentrate on the fact that you'll be holding your LO sometime very soon!

I give you a TON of credit for dealing with her! I know it's only on the weekends, but still! You're a saint!
And NO, I do not know how to tie a tie. DH is a big boy and can manage to tie his own tie. I think he'd smack me upside the head if I tried to tie it for him.

Sorry, but this just made me If she was such a good teacher on this topic, why doesn't her own son know how to do it the "right" way.
I do know how to tie one, but only because I used to watch my dad when I was little, and he showed me because I asked. I let DH tie his own ties.
As for the laundry, that would tick me off. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people try to "help" you by doing things that end up creating even more work for you.

OMG...... You are a saint for not flipping out on her about the laundry. WOW What a B*tch.
Last I checked you were his wife not his MOTHER so you don't need to tie his ties. I know b/c I used to wear one when I was a bartender........ but if I tried to tie my DH's tie he'd probably be freaked out. Hello controlling.....Does she expect you to spoon feed him too. Seriously CUT THE CORD MOM!!

Re: totally NPR - poll (VENT - MIL RELATED) LONG
Oh Gabbie you are a better woman than I am! 6 months of my MIL staying with us on the weekend?! 39 weeks pregnant?! No freakin way! She'd be on the first bus/plane back to her house after a week or two!
It sounds like she is being a typical MIL and you are extremely hormonal (and rightfully so...it IS your house, your clothes, your husband!). IMO I would tell her exactly how you feel and be completely honest...and maybe you could preface it with, "I know that you are just trying to help and I could extra sensitive because I'm about to explode, but the other day when you did....." I wouldn't rely on DH to delay the message because that didn't seem to work with the tie business!
FTR-no idea how to tie a tie and no desire to learn...DH is a big boy and not to mention that this is the 21st century! Men are perfectly able to take care of themselves and get themselves ready without their wife's help (unless he's trying to wear navy blue and black together! ) A lot of our MIL's are used to "tending to/taking care" of their husbands and I just don't think it works like that anymore...
I wish you lots of luck and patience!

I am not siding with your MIL because I have one too and they will never cease to amaze but... if it makes you feel any better your patience is probably zil to none and you may not realize it. My mom was staying with us b4 DS was born and she just annoyed me so much. She thought I was trying to send her home (I probably would not have objected) with they way I treated her. I really had no clue I was just miserable at the end but I probably would have held my tongue for my MIL....maybe.
