Touchy neighbor subject...LONG and im livid!

I need to know if anyone else would be mad at this??

We have these neighbors who are much older than us but we considered "friends." The guy was very close to my dh and was always with him hanging out with him no matter what. He was always invited to our bbq's and was always welcome into our lives. His gf pretty much stayed in most times and I didnt have much in common with her so we didnt deal with her too much. But when we would have gatherings, she was welcome to join and she somewhat did. She has asked my dh for tons of favors (which I dont understand because she has a perfectly abled man to help her but anyway) and he has always done them for her. I will admit, with our busy schedules and my family obligations, we are not the type of couple who "caters" to other people. I am not the type to cook and invite them in and neither are they. Basically I would say that my dh and I were closer with the man of this couple..ok so moving on now..

We have neighbors on the other side who are ALWAYS in the streets. From 12 in the afternoon till 1 in the morning they are outside in their beach chairs. They are the type of people who just sit there and gossip about EVERYONE that comes across their path. I dont feel comforable associating with them so we kind of stay away. Ive known them forever so we are on "speaking terms" but not people I would choose to sit with. Now all of a sudden, the other neighbors have taken to them. They sit with them every night as if we dont exist. They hardly say hello anymore, they never stop over and see whats going on like before. They basically walk past us as if we never existed. Now I have to say, I am learning that these people are "leach like people" They seem to enjoy being with the people next door because they get free beer and food every night from them. They seem to be the type of people who just go where they can get something. So the fact that they arent bothering with us anymore is fine with me but I feel bad for my dh because he was ALWAYS with this guy and he doesnt have many other friends in the neighborhood. I am livid by this. I feel used and not to sound like a kid but I feel like they are "flat leavers".

Now my things is..I am not one to keep my mouth shut especially when I feel that I have been used. The people next door love this type of thing...they feel as if they have "won"..my opinion...they want to buy friendships, then go ahead. But at the same time, I want to say something to this other couple so bad. But how do I do this without sounding like a child..I dont wanna sound like.."you left us for them" type of thing. How would you handle it? Would you just let it go?? I mean this has even effected the rest of my family. They know all of them, even my 17 year old brother asks why tom is acting like that? Any advice!?

I think you need to leave to to the husband, if he chooses to say anything to the guy. You already said that you don't care so much for yourself, but for him because he is closer with the guy. I think if your husband wants to say anything to the guy, he should, and it would be less confrontive anyway because guys are typically more laid-back about these types of things anyway.

Noreen, you have too many problems!!

Next time you or DH sees them, I would casually aske where ya been? Why don't we see you anymore and see what they say!!

Maybe you could make some sandwiches and invite them over!!!!

Thing is though...I see them every night. They are literally 2 steps away from me. Living in Queens is quite different than the island! LOL

And they look in my face and just ignore! I swear I am at the point where I just want to smack him and tell him hes a LOSER! How you use people like that is beyond me! I just cant fathom it!

Well, you can either confront them and ask whats up or ignore them back. If he is really a loser and a free loader, do you really want to be friends with them??
