Tough Day
Some days this is harder than I imagined. Today we were up at 7:30 and she did not go down for a nap until 12 which would be fine if she was happy but she was fussy and nothing I could do was right and any time she fell asleep she would wake up if I put her down. Then she was up aroud 2 and didn't go back down until almost 4 and that took 3 tries, she would wake up every time I put her down. This made our timing all off for feeding and all she got was bottles today because when she woke up was right after I pumped. I am going to hold out a little while so this time she can nurse.
This is why I feel like I can't leave the house. Nothing is predictable. Yesterday was completely different.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just wait until she starts smiling at you and laughing. It will make even the most difficult days worth it.

Re: Tough Day
I think I had the same day as you, except ours started at around 2:30 am, lasted till about 9am, then started again around 2 in the afternoon. My poor husband was up for almost 3 hours last night with her and she was crying bad for an hour he said, and he felt bad waking me up because he knows I've been so tired ... but finally he had to. And then this afternoon she was really fussy again with me.
It breaks your heart. You try everything -- feeding, changing diapers, rocking, singing ... literally EVERYTHING and it seems like nothing works. It makes me feel like a bad mom.
But hopefully tomorrow will be better. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you!

I had those days too, we were prisoners in our home until Cain was 6 weeks old, then he turned the corner! It really is horrible, but like everyone has said it gets better, and who knows tomorrow may be a good day for you!

All he wants to do is be held... and its fine because all I wanna do is hold him... but when I gotta pee, and I put him down for a sec and he screams his head off...I feel horrible...

Does this work for a newborn? Miranda is sleeping now and I want to wake her up if she doesn't wake up on her own because I want to sleep tonight.

I use to wake up my kids if they fell asleep too early, even as babies.I'd wake them up and guess what, BATH TIME! This would wake them up and then I'd do the whole creame massage, then we'd play fir a little while and before you know it it's 1-2 hrs later and then they can go back to sleep!

SO many people told me "NEVER wake a sleeping baby", but if had been sleeping a while, I would wake him up and try to keep him up for a few hours prior to bedtime. It ended up working out great. He started sleeping through the night fairly early.

Well she's up and screaming on her own. OMG I just want tomorrow to be here. I think I may try a bath as soon as I shove some food down my throat.

Yes, bath time! That's what I do to this day. Christopher's eyelids usually start drooping around 8-8:30, so that's when I give him his bath and it wakes him right up

Me too!! Try chammomile tea for her!! I'm telling you, it truly works! Luke warm water (About 1-2 oz), swish around the tea bag for a few seconds, 1/2 tsp of brown sugar, it is really calming, it has saved my life more than a few times!!

I wake up Emily to feed her because sometimes she'll go 5 hours sleeping, but usually during the day, lol, not at night!
I've also noticed that on nights that she has bath time she sleeps REALLY well. Her cord isn't off though yet but as soon as it falls off we're doing full blown baths ALL THE TIME!

Yes we have swaddle me's which are the same thing. I am starting to think something is wrong. When she spits up its more like throw up (partially digested milk) and she's done this several times since last night. I think I may call the doctor. As soon as I get her down and put her down she'll sleep a little then something will wake her up and she'll start crying. This just isn't really like her.

The miracle blanket is differnt than the swaddle, you should get i, it really worked wonders for my son who cried for his first 6 weeks of life almost non-stop Also, he too had the spit up, and it was just gas, you have to make sure she burps befire you feed her again, sometimes one burp is not enough, she may need a few burps, but if you put more food on top of a gas bubble, when it finally pops it will come back up. Also, try the Hyland's colic tablets, they dissolve easily and work well. Also try white noise, at a very loud volume, or the vacuum if you don't have a sound machine. Most importantly, get those burps up!

I have tried it all. I think she finally tired herself out because this time she didn't wake up when I put her down. I am just praying she sleeps a couple of hours so mommy can go get some rest. Just have to eat some breakfast now that its almost noon here.

Re: Tough Day
I can't say how good it feels to know I'm not the only one! I had an AWFUL, just AWFUL day yesterday with Alex. She woke up at 12:30am and didn't go back to sleep until 9am!! Poor DH went to work late so he could take her off my hands a few hours so I could sleep. And then all morning all she did was fuss and cry. She would eat every 45 minutes, fall asleep for 10 minutes and when I put her down she would wake up a minute later and cry! It's just awful having to strategize just going to the bathroom in between her fussy moments! But, alas, take heart, although yesterday was our worst day yet, last night and today were our best. She slept from 12:30-9am with only one waking and went right back to sleep. And today she has been a dream... alert and playful, and I even got my first smile! Hang in there... just know we're all struggling and it doesn't make any of us bad mommies.
P.S. I talked to my pediatrician about it - about how Alex seems REALLY fussy right after she eats and spits up. He assured me it's just her digestive system trying to mature and keep up with her immense eating habits. I noticed that her fussy periods and days where she's super cranky coincide with her growth spurts... it should only last a day or so and then you'll have your good ol' baby back in your arms
