tough decision...LONG...sorry
about a year ago I applied for a Job that I really wanted. Things looked very good for me and I believe that I was about to be offered the position; but I took myself out of the running because I had found out I was pregnant with Marianna. I knew that I was a high risk pregnancy, and decided that it was better for me and the baby if I stayed were I was.
After Marianna was born I decided to take some time off from work. During that time DH and I discussed me going back to school to get my Masters in Secondary Education. All the wheels are in motion for me to start school in the fall, and to keep us from sinking into debt the plan is for me to find something part time.
Today I happened to notice that the same job title that I was looking into a year ago is currently listed again. I left things pretty good with the company adn they told me that if my situation changes in the future I should consider reaching out to them.
The job is a great oppurtunity and it is something that I really wanted to do. But I'm really torn if I should apply for it. If I am offered this job I wouldn't be able to go back to school. The commitment to the job would take up too much of my time and I am not willing to take any more time away from my children to also attend school. Also; I'm really enjoyng my time home with the kids and mentally I'm not prepared to go back to work or school just yet...I thought that I would have the summer home with them. I never really had a normal maternity leave with James, because he was in the hospital and by the time he did come home I had to return to work. So I'm trying to soak up every minute I have now with James and Marianna.
Also, if this job is offered to me, I would most likely have to put the kids in day care 2-3 days a week. My mother is no longer available to watch them full time like she did in the past. I know that plently of people have no choice but to use day care...but I'm not sure that I am mentally prepared for that either.
so far my sister, cousin and MIL all think that I should apply for the job abd if offered the position I should take it. DH and I think that its somethign that we really need to wiegh the pros and cons. I definatly need to return to work soon...even if its part time. I would have to give up the idea of going back to school...but I would have a job that I really wanted.
What would you do?

I would explore the opportunity and worry about all these things when/if you are offered the position. Until you explore it, you can't really weigh your options. All of your thinking now is around what happened last time-- some circumstances might have changed, they job may have part time options, they may have tuition reimbursment, they may offer free daycare on site-- who knows?!
Go for it now, so you don't regret it later. Only make the decision when you are forced to.

I agree with Randi - at least apply and see what happens.
The fact that it is open again, I think, is a sign! Go for it!

You'll regret it if you don't apply for the job! JMO. School will always be there. As far as day care...it must be hard...but, my niece goes to tutor time and is becoming such a well rounded child because of all the socialization she is getting. She wouldn't have that otherwise! You should apply and tell them that you have to weigh going back to work vs staying home. Maybe if they really like you, they can take you PT
