towel bars? towel rings? ideas please

We are redoing the bathroom and I'm not sure how to set up the towel bars/rings or what to buy. It's a small space and essentially just has one wall to put these things on. It's the wall that the door opens up into. Right now the previous owners have one long and one short towel bar on the wall directly next to each other. One is hidden whenever the door is opened to the bathroom.

I don't really like that set up and want to change it. I like the idea of towel rings but am wondering how you set them up. Can you do 2 diagonally? What towels go in these rings? Hand or bath? If those are the only towels I have hanging in the bathroom, what do people dry their hands on? Please show me some visuals and help! TIA! :)

This is how I just did my bath. Hardware from Pottery Barn. I put them in myself. Pretty easy.

In my towel ring I put a hand towel. And also on the towel bar I use a hand towel.

At first I was not going to put the towel bar b/c the way it sticks out could get in the way (small room). I was going to put another towel ring or two towel rings but I did not like the way it looked. And then being empty, it didnt look right either so I went with a towel bar and it really does belong there.

I always keep the show towel on one ring and a regular towel on the other ring for people to wipe their hands on.
