towel cake ?
So - I think I am going to make a towel cake for my friend's shower. I have directions - but there is nothing about keeping the three layers together. If you've made (or received) one --- were the three layers just sitting on top of one another? or was something used to hold the three together?
i am afraid it will topple!

Re: towel cake ?
I think push pins are used to hold it together.

Re: towel cake ?
I used dowels inserted through each layer to keep it all together.

Re: towel cake ?
I went to ther dollar store and bought those cheesy round trays and built the cake around them. You coulnt see them and it gave the cake balance.

Cardboard cutouts or Aluminum trays to keep the balance.

Re: towel cake ?
I got one from one of my friends and she used safety pins (on the inside to hold the 3 layers together)...the towels on each level were tied with a satin bow...
ETA: She used a piece of cardboard for underneath...

Re: towel cake ?
I made one for someone and used one of those mesh sponges on a stick and put wired ribbon arround each layer. I then stuck in some lotions and body washes into each layer and surrounded the entire thing with cellophane and a bow.

Re: towel cake ?
I've never held them together with anything- i wrap them in cellophane and make sure to wrap it tight so they don't move

Re: towel cake ?
I made one for SIL last year. I adhered them with safety pins. I also watched a video on bliss weddings.
Bliss wedding video on how to make a towel cake
My towel cake I made- I used a real cake stand I bought at Target for $10 as the base.
