Most of them will fall asleep...they say to play with their feet or start to undress them (to make them cool)

a cool washcloth on their head helps.

you can also tickle under DC's chin to stimulate the drinking. DS still falls asleep when he drinks but he will drink while he is dozing

Does DC stop eating when sleeping? At 5 mos my DS still nurses 80% of the time while napping on me!

I agree with all of the suggestions-- I think it happens to pretty much all newborns. We had to get up & change diaper, walk around, tickle feet, push under chin, everything to wake her. I just stopped BF her at 7 months, but even up to then, she dream nursed almost all the time, so she was sleeping while she nursed (but was still eating, unlike when she was a newborn).

I'm constantly tickling DD's cheek or I run my finger along her neck to get her to keep sucking while she's bfing. She falls asleep after 5 minutes too.

Oh yes. I remember those weeks.
I tried everything to wake him, but nothing seemed to work. I found out if I just let him sleep on me, I could get some sleep too. (OF course, I made sure his head wasn't still pointing into my breast.) I would just shift him slightly so I knew he could breathe and dozed with him. When he wiggled for more food, I'd be right there. That was our pattern for about the first 6-8 weeks.

I agree with this! DS did the SAME thing. Even after we switched him to the bottle (when i stoppped BFing). DH and I would undress and tickle feet at almost EVERY feeding!
