Parents in disagreement what would you do?
to make a long story short my Mom has bought a ticket to Florida for me for my birthday to see my sister and neice and nephew. DH told me there is NO WAY HIS son is going on a plane ride.
I asked him why he didn't want OUR son to go. He gave a million nonsensical reasons and is really just being a jerk about it.
I told him it's unfortunate he feels this way but we are going anyway.
What would you do, would you go anyway? I would be going with my Mom possibly my other sister too.

Unless he can give some valid reasons why he doesn't want his son to fly, I would still go... there's no sense in restricting yourself for irrational reasons

well said, when kids are born, it seems like many DH's have an irrationality switch that goes on...

Re: Parents in disagreement what would you do?
I am on the fense about that because I didn't want to go away with my DS and leave DH home even though I was traveling with family. I wanted our first trip to be together so maybe he feels that way. But on the other hand it is only a 3 hour flight and not a 12 hour trip that my DH was considering.

I agree.
Me too.
I wasn't crazy about DH taking Joseph to FL either. It wasn't a terrorist thing for me. It was that sometimes DH is inattentive. I drilled it into his head every possible danger of losing a child that could wander away.

I Agree. Maybe he is giving irrational reasons because he is concerned about terrorism?

Re: Parents in disagreement what would you do?
I flew with DS to Las Vegas (very long flight) when he was 6 months old.
However (I kmow I will be the odd one out) I don't think I would get into a fight with DH over it. I'm sorry but it's just my opinion. I feel if I didn't want DH to do something with DS he would have enough respect for me not to do it so I would have to do the same

Re: Parents in disagreement what would you do?
I would go. i've flown with my daughter so mant times, she has more sky miles than me. It's ok... If he's worried about the stuff going on now, I understand but it's not an international flight that would make me more worried. It's a tough decision, but personally i would go. maybe he wants to go to, it would make him feel better.

I would go... i think you need ot find out why he has fears of letting your son on a plane, but at this time, its probably really safe to fly.

Dh & I would never fly seperately so I can't really give you my opinion. It's either the whole family or nothing......

that's how he feels, but I don't it's fair for him to pull the respect my wishes when he has no good reason!

Re: Parents in disagreement what would you do?
okay so here are his reasons for not wanting Roman to go (mind you he said if I want to go that's fine???????):
1. scared because of all of the terrorist crap going on BUT wanted to fly to Florida for a cruise in Dec.
3. the airport will be crazy (we're flying Southwest out of MacArthur)??????
2. he's too young
3. He doesn't want to expose Roman to my a hole BIL (although we're renting a house and won't even see my BIL)
4. threw it in my face that 9 years ago I left Florida early because I got into a fight with my Mom and sis
5. we don't have the money for a vacation
6. I want to get away from DH (this one is sounding more true every day)
7. nobody told your sister to move to Florida, she can visit here
I can go on and on obviously he is contradicting himself. When I mentioned it he didn't even hear any details he was just very reactive and said no.

Re: Parents in disagreement what would you do?
i might be in the minority - but I do believe DH has a right to his opinion as well (as nonsensical as it may be). it IS his son too.
If I were in your shoes I would get my Dr. to talk to my DH and explain it is perfectly safe for the baby to fly - maybe that will calm him a little.
I also think there is probably another reason DH is being resistant and he hasn't told you yet - or maybe he doesnt really know...but either way, try to talk it out. And go! You'll have a great time...my daughter is going to be 1 next month and has taken 4 trips already.
