Toxoplasmosis- Q for ladies who have cats and HAVE to clean litter box.
I know toxoplasmosis is very dangerous to an unborn baby and Ive read that you should have someone else change the litter if possible but what if there is no one else that can do this. For ladies who have no choice to clean the box what do you do as a precaution?
ETA: This is not my cat. I work at a veterinary hospital and we have a cat that is considered the hospital's pet. I clean her box in the AM.

Well, its actually not my cat. I work at a veterinary hospital and we have a cat as a pet. I have to change the litter box in the morning and usually I am there by myself in the AM with no one to help.

DH cleans out our cat's box, but I read somewhere if you have to clean a litter box to wear gloves.

I still wouldn't want to risk it. I'd tell my boss early about being preggo and have him sign that job to whoever gets there next in the morning.

If you have no choice at all - then I would wear gloves and make sure you wash your hands immediately afterwards.

i would say wear gloves & a mask if you HAVE to do it at work. Or just tell work you cant change it cause your preggo & its risky to the baby.
