Toy Question...UPDATE: Little Tykes Cook N Learn Kitchen ...GREAT DEAL! :)
If a toy says "Ages 3 and up" and your DC will be almost 20 months old on Christmas. Would you get it for them? My mom wants to get DD the little tykes cook n learn kitchen. This kitchen is made in the USA (not China thank God) and it looks like Grace could handle it. Then I see it says Ages 3 and up. Would you get this for your child if they were 20 months old? TIA
UPDATE: I just ordered it online for my mom on www.walmart.com. Walmart had it for $89.99, $10 cheaper than in the store and $40 cheaper than TRU. They also have a "ship to store" option where shipping is free! You just pick it up at the store after they notify you by email. Dh and I looked for this kitchen this weekend. Three walmart stores, and one TRU store were sold out of them. WHOOO HOOO!!! I love a GREAT deal!

Re: Toy Question...
We bought the Little Tikes motor/workshop for Andrew to play with whenever we feel he is ready. As long as its supervised and you feel your child can play with it safely, I think its fine. I always feel like the age thing is to cover the company's butt.

I feel this way too. I just wanted to run it past some other moms who have BTDT. Thanks!

Re: Toy Question...
As long as it doesn't have small parts, I would get it. Sometimes when it's not a safety issue, I find they put a certain age bc that's when they feel the child will understand the concept. My DD got a play kitchen at 2 yrs old and played great with it. We had to strap it to the wall so she wouldnt pull it over when she was 2, that was another difference between a 2 or 3 yr old getting it I think. My 18 month old plays with it now too and loves to put stuff in the oven (DD's dolls!) I like the one you are considering. For some reason, the idea of the trash area is so adorable.

Re: Toy Question...
I would but I would do the paper towel tube test and then put those pieces away until she was older.

I would. We're getting Ellie the other Little Tykes kitchen with the grill. I was torn b/w the two but I loved them both and I think they're old enough to get it. The kitchen for sure just maybe not all the little food pieces for now. But they'll grow into it. I think this is one of those toys where it's 3 and up for developmental reasons not so much for small part safety reasons KWIM?
