Toy RAVE!!
So my best friend (browneyedgirl) bought Johnny the Leapfrog fridge alphabet thing..(it comes with the 26 letters that you can place in the holder and it tells you the letter along with pronunciation..).
Well I don't give my son enough credit first off and I feel terrible at times for being this way. I had NO CLUE but he knows every single letter. I can pick up any random letter and he says it perfectly....
He loves this toy and will spend 20 minutes placing the different letters in and hearing them sing about it. He would repeat the letters sometimes but I had no clue he knew them all..
I am so proud of him!! And a huge fan of this toy!!!

awww i'm so glad he likes it! it just screamed "johnny" to me when i saw it.
i couldn't wait to open the thread and see what toy was so wonderful....little did i know it was mine

Seriously....for a child that didn't even say much months ago to now knowing the alphabet is huge for me!! You should see his face when we clap and say "Good job!!!". He is so proud and it makes him want to keep going...big fan of this toy!

That is TOO weird-- I was going to post a vent about this toy a little while ago 
I DO love this toy, and so does DD. BUT-- I do wish that when you push the little musical note, when it sings the ABCs-- I wish it went slower. It sings it pretty fast, and DD tries to keep up with it. I wish it sang the alphabet slower.
BUT, we do love it!
Glad your son is doing great things with it!!

I didn't even notice the song going fast! I do know that when he tries to sing along with the song he ends up jumbling them all together sometimes so it sounds like "lmmmp" lol (instead of LMNOP). I just think its a fun way for them to learn letters and if it gets this kid to retain, i'm all for it!

I totally agree, it's a great toy and DD and I both love it. It just bothers me that the alphabet song isn't a BIT slower so the kids can keep up.

I have to check! I believe it said 2+ on the box, but you could def use this with an 18 month old, or around that age...

I know how you can fix the speed...do what I did, which is to let the batteries die...it then starts to sing the alphabet in this slow demonic voice
Johnny actually backed away from the fridge shaking his head and going "no no no!" and I ran in and started hysterically laughing. It really sounded creepy!!!! BUT it did slow it down

Just wanted to add that DS got the "word whammer" toy for xmas - same concept but you can put together 3 letters to form words and he is so in love with it!! We had the 1 letter one that you are referring to but it lost it's joy after a while...
DS is 3 yrs old but if your dc are really into the 1-letter toy I would def consider the word whammer as well...

this was one of DD's favorites too! its such a cute toy! I just got her the next level up of this toy - the word whammer...same idea but they can out three letters together to spell words like cat and dog.

we got this toy after a rave from mommy2bella and it definitely taught Jack all his letters. We also got the fridge farm which he also LOVES. Teaches animals and the sounds they make and he loves dancing along to the ho-down music. I think the word whammer is still a bit too advanced for him so we haven't given it to him yet.
