Toys & Germs

Calling all germaphobes!!! I am usually not, but today got me thinking - what do you do about toys and DCs putting them in their mouths? Aren't they just going to pass germs back and forth? Chat Icon If one DD puts a toy in her mouth, then later that day the other one does...wouldn't I be cleaning toys all day long - what are we supposed to do, get two of everything or just not worry? How often are you washing toys? Help please! Chat Icon

Re: Toys & Germs

Here I am - germophobeChat Icon I wash the toys they play with once a day - rattles and such that are plastic ... ones that are "spot clean" only, I don't bother with unless it's obvious. I have lots of machine washable/dryable stuffed animals from IKEA which the boys love and I am able to clean a couple times a week (these are the BEST b/c they chew/suck on them and they are cleaned so easily). Don't drive yourself crazy, though. It's impossible to clean everything in between the girls using them.

Re: Toys & Germs

I used to be a little nutty about germs... as far as their toys went though, I got over the whole sharing thing. Plastic toys that were able to be dishwashed, I did just that like once a week. Any thing that was touched during a playdate got degermed immediately. As they get older, it becomes impossible to keep up with. The truth is, only 1 did one of my kids get sick where the other didn't any way. They live together, share a room...its inevitable. Hope that helped Chat Icon
