Trader Joes Wine - Charles Shaw (Two Buck Chuck)

Has anyone had it before?

I'm buying 14 cases of wine for my wedding and it looks like this may be the most cost effective. I just want to make sure I'm not buying crap wine. I know you get what you pay for, but I've heard some mixed reviews on this one.

I have abotu 6 bottle sitting at my house that I have had since 2009. It is not good. Drinkable.....sometimes. I had a bunch of bottles with moldy corks!

I would not give it out for favors.

I gave it our for favors and hd absolutely no problems. What we did is I went over and got 10 bottles of all different whites and reds. We then had a tasting party and everyone picked the Riesling and the Merlot so thats what we went with. We polished off the Reisling and I have a couple of bottles of Merlot left over for anniversaries.

I've heard nothing but good things.

We did wine favors but opted for mini bottles for each person since we didn't want to go all the way into the city to pick up 2 buck chuck. We got a great deal on the minis at a liquor store and they came with personalized labels on the back.

It's great! I had it in Virginia.

It's comparable to more expensive wines and has won many awards.

I love it! Whenever we are in VA we pick up a case. One of my favorite wines for the price...you can't go wrong IMO!

I believe it has won awards, although I'm not sure what awards. My IL's told me that severa years ago.

Re: Trader Joes Wine - Charles Shaw (Two Buck Chuck)

We gave it out as wedding favors, we bought a few different bottles to try first. We did not like the Merlot at all. We ended up picking the Cabernet. We're still getting compliments on the wine, no one even knew it was from TJ's bc we got personalized labels.

Oh and it's $3 in NY bc of shipping reasons. It's only $2 in California

I personally don't love it, but do whatever fits into your budget. Any favor you get (wine, food, trinket), half of the guests will love it and the other half will think its crap. You can't please everyone!

The whites are better then the reds IMO. If you do it, stick with the white wines.

I've never had the TJs wine, but just a suggestion, visit a local wine/liquor store and ask what kind of a discount you can get for buying bulk cases. We did this with Cappy's in Valley Stream (or is it Lynbrook?) and we got this French wine we loved for favors, for almost half the price per bottle. Cappy's has the best prices for bottles we've found anywhere, actually, and then the case price is even better. Their wines are dollars per bottle less than other stores. For us it worked out perfectly, and we didn't even go through the trouble of personalizing the labels. We had wine tags made and the colors and French origin also matched our theme! HTH

I've only had it once and it gave me the worst hangover the next morning. And I didn't even drink that much of it.

I have had it many times. my old roomie and I would drink it all the time. Its not bad for the price. But it isn't what I would call good wine either. Its okay wine and good for the price. I think it would be a good wine to use as a favor, but maybe not the best to use to serve at the event.

Same. I had it in Cali, not sure if it is the same here, but it has the same name. I didn't drink much but thought I was dying the next day. Wasn't nice the next day.

I live in NC so not sure you can get it in NY but check out Green Fin Sauvignon Blanc. Its 3.99 has a cute surfer label and is made with organic grapes and no sulfites
