Transferring a Lease?
Do you know how this is done?
My brother is leasing a Volkswagon right now and I want to transfer the lease over to me. The lease is only until August.
Has anyone ever done this? How?
What are the costs associated with it?
TIA!

You have to first contact the leasing co. and they send you forms that need to filled out. Since a leased car gives you no title you would later have to go to dmv to re-register in your name.

Just found out because it's only a few months left, it cannot be transfered. PITA, that's what this is!

Re: Transferring a Lease?
technically Elbee , It still can be done, but it would be written up as a new lease for whatever term you choose. And.. if the dealer rewrites the lease they'll get money for the contract which will give them that much more incentive to write it up. How much time is left on the lease?? You and the owner of the acct should go to the orig dlr, let them know what you want to do, and i'm sure they can work that out for ya.

Re: Transferring a Lease?
Thanks, but I was doing it as a favor to my brother. It's not worth the extra hassle if he can can just turn it in at this point.
