Travel and car seat ?

I'm going down to Miami next weekend. We are flying down and were thinking of renting a car with a car seat, since my brother who lives down there has a 2 door car, and no car seat. But the more I think about it, I don't want to waste the $$ renting since I can just use his car, and it's only really like for a ride here and there that we'll use a car. How can I get a car seat down there if I'm not bringing one down, and not renting a car? Do certain places "rent" car seats? TIA

When I went to FL in March, we just brought our carseat and checked it as luggage with the rest of our stuff. We didn't use it for the plane ride, and only needed it when we got to my parents house. The airline put it in a plastic bag and put it with the regular luggage and we picked it up at the carousel with our stuff.
