Travel Insurance?/Non-refundable flights
It has been so long since I've booked a trip.. I'm looking at airfare to FLA during the summer & there's about a 300$ difference between the nonrfundable & the refundable tickets. Is there some sort of insurance I can buy or a credit card that offers trip cancellation protection if something prevents me from being able to fly out & I buy the non-refundable tickets?
Thanks in advance!

Who are you booking with? If it's Southwest, you can get travel credit in the amount you paid if you cancel within a half hour of your flight or something. We pretty much only fly them due to their lenient policies.
There ARE outside companies you can buy insurance with. Just google and a bunch come up

Re: Travel Insurance?/Non-refundable flights
Travel insurance is a great way to protect your vacation investment. The price of a travel insurance policy is often less than the difference you would pay for a non-refundable flight. Why do you think you might have to cancel? Depending on the reason, you might want to purchase a "cancel for any reason" policy. Let me know if you have questions.

Travel insurance should be much less than the price difference of the two types of tickets. Just be sure to review the reasons the insurance can be used for (If you or someone else traveling with you gets ill, if family not with you gets ill, weather etc). Most ins policies will not give you a refund if you just change your mind.
