Travel Question...
For those that have traveled with their babies....if you rent a car does the car rental place provide car seats for the kids? We are going to Florida this summer and we need to rent a car but there is no way i can bring two car seats......

Re: Travel Question...
Yes, I know rental companies definitely do. I would certainly call ahead of time to make sure they have two for you (or they can arrange to have them there for you).

Re: Travel Question...
We brought ours, DH carried the seats as I pushed the boys, when getting on the plane either someone on line helped us of the stewardess did when we were boarding sicne I had to get the boys out of the strollers. I didn't want to be on the plane without them.

The only problem with this is the boys are already in their convertable car seats which are way to big to bring with us. If it was the infant car seats that would not be a problem especailly with the snap n go.

Re: Travel Question...
My SIL did this, she got a car with a car seat and it was WAY too big for my neice, who was 16 months at the time. She said it was totally unsafe and she had to buy one at wal mart while she was in Florida.

Re: Travel Question...
As much as a hassle that it is to lug car seats, I would bring my own. You never know how safe a carseat rental can be since it could have been compromised if the rental was in an accident with the carseat. You just never know.
I would bring both seats and check them on the airplane. Baby gear does not count as checked luggage. That way, you know you have appropriate sized and safe seats for your kids.

Re: Travel Question...
We are traveling in June, and bringing both car seats. It's roughly $10/day for most rental places, and we're staying for 10 days. $200 to borrow two car seats that I haven't researched, won't have the side-impact protection of the ones we own, and may have been damaged from previous renters is way too much for me....

Re: Travel Question...
I also just saw this at bbb:
It is called Gogo Kidz Travelmate by Gogo Babyz. It attaches to your own car seat. It is $90 though.

Re: Travel Question...
Ali - I have traveled twice with the convertable seats and it really is not that bad. CUmbersome but not bad. Is the flight full? We lucked out every time and the flight was not full so we got seats for them and used the car seats. They slept most of the flight both times we went to Florida.
I was actually able to put the car seat on my back like a backpack. I extended the straps and slid my arm in and the seat was on my back.

Re: Travel Question...
I rented a car in Florida and had a seat from the rental place, it was absolutely perfect. They do infant seats and child seats, the seat was an Evenflo and it was in good condition.
Its up to you, but I wasn't about to lug my huge maxi cosi Tobi on two flights across the ocean, so I rented one.
