traveling for work..
So my firm is expecting me to go to a client in Ohio for 6 days when I will be 11 1/2 weeks pg. Now, I know its probably safe but I REALLY don't want to go b/c I can't stand my one manager. Do you think it would be really unreasonable/nervy to use the pg as my excuse not to go? They don't know yet that I am pg, I'm telling them next week (like a week before they book the flight!)
TIA!

Re: traveling for work..
My personal philosophy was never to use my pregnancy as an excuse for anything at work...unless of course it was a serious medical issue. I would go unless you have a medical issue preventing you from it. I think it would make you look bad at 11.5 weeks to say no. It will make them think what will this woman be like when she is really really preggo?

I agree. If you had a medical reason I would not go, but just because you don't like a manager is not a good enough reason IMO. If you use that as an excuse now you could hurt yourself down the line (career path I mean, not physically)

Re: traveling for work..
I'd be hesitant to use it as an excuse because I wouldn't want them to assume that further into my pregnancy I couldn't do my job.
I'd go, and use the pregnancy as an excuse not to spend any down time with the manager you dislike, you can certainly be tired and bow out of any socializing.

I totally agree with this.
I purposely make my appointments after work hours and take tests on my days off because I don't want work to ever say that my pregnancy kept me from doing my job.
