Traveling while pg

Did any of you take a vacation while pg?
Do you regret it? Dh and I want to go away in April, (we aren't pg yet). I am just concerned about traveling if I am lucky enough to be pg at the time. Any advice for me?

I say go for it. I just wouldnt plan for any mountain climbing or anything of that nature if you are planning on being PG.

I regreat big time not taking a trip or two. I say plan away and plan small getaways too if you can. Unless you have some kind of complications there really should be no reason at all you couldn't travel.

I just went to Aruba and loved it. I was 10 weeks when we went and turned 11 weeks while we were there. I didn't do much but relax and of course, couldn't drink anything... but loved getting away!

DH and I went to Poland this summer and I was only 5 or 6 weeks along at that point. I could have been very sick or very tired but thankfully the only thing I suffered was jetlag.

Re: Traveling while pg

I went to Europe at 9 wks. I visited Maastricht (the Netherlands), Paris and Brussels. The trip was planned before I got PG. Everything was fine. But I also didn't have an morning sickness. That could be a real pain if you have that.

Sometimes it was also a little difficult to figure out what I could eat. Although menues were in English most of the time, they didn't really explain what the dish was very well. In Maastricht there was a dish on the fish section with "Tongue" (in the English section). I knew it was fish but wasn't sure if I could have it and the waitress didn't know the English word. (Turns out it was sole.)

I am very very happy that I took this trip. My best childhood friend is living Maastricht right now for work, and it was wonderful taking a trip like this. I doubt that I will be doing this kind of traveling once the baby is born.

Re: Traveling while pg

i'm going ot florida in 2 weeks at 32 weeks. dr. said it was fine. a lot will depend on the type of pregnancy your having. You might have no energy to do anything, or you might have the same amount of energy you had prepregnancy. No way to say for sure.

DH and I went to Jamaica when I was 12 weeks. Be careful if you go to a sunny destination. I usually don't get sunburn (I just tan) but I got a really bad sunburn on my legs. It was so bad I could hardly walk and had to sit in the tub with cool water to help cool my legs down. The nurse couldn't do anything for me since I was pregnant.

We spent two days in San Juan then took a 7 day cruise (to St Thomas, St Kitts, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba).

We planned the trip in 08/05 so we knew when we were trying that we were going away. My OB gave me full clearance and told me to go and have fun. I was almost 9/10 weeks.

The only downside was that I NEVER get motion sickness - and I luckily did not get any on the cruise itself - but I did get terrible motion sickness on the plane ride down and back.

Etd to add - I noticed some people say they burn much easier - I am fair skinned and burn extremely easily - I turn red before I can tan - I used 50 the first few days then 30 and for the first time ever I never turned red but I got a decent tan. I would take precautions though since you don't know if you will be that one lucky one.

No big trips for us but we did drive to MA to visit SIL's family very early on (5 weeks) and just this week.

The trip up this week was hard. I could not get comfortable (24 weeks with twins) no matter what position the front seat was in. My Chat Icon was sitting way to the left of my uterus and ugh!!

The way back took 7 hoursChat Icon Chat Icon in traffic but I was fine, probably because they Chat Icon Chat Icon were in a much more comfortable position. We just had to stop three times for food/bathroom breaks.

IF you are flying and you can get up and walk around it might be better.

I know I'm not going anywhere for a whileChat Icon

I had the best time while 6 months on vacation. That was my last trip. I took 3 or 4 flight trips while pregnant and all was just fine.

We went to Mexico with both PGs. Last time I was only 6 weeks. This time around I was 18 weeks.

I think it is a great idea.
