tree lighting 101... how do I do it?
do you start at the top or bottom when stringing lights on the tree? I can't believe I've never done it in 36 years.

I asked my DH the same thing b/c I was going to do ours last week & he said it didn't matter (but then he started at the bottom (I think) leaving room for the extension cord.

I start from the bottom, so that way I end with the plug receptacle at the top to plug the star into. It doesn't matter which direction you go in, just make sure the prongs end of the wires are at the bottom, to plug into the wall/extension cord, and the receptacle part of the lights are at the top, to plug the star/angel/tree topper at the top.

I start at the top at work my way down. We have an angel at the top, so no need for a plug near the top.

I start at the bottom. Also I plug the lights in so I can see them while I string them. This way you have a better idea of where to go.

I start at the top (with the female plug on top), and go down. If there are 2 strings, the first strand should go 2/3 the way down, since the tree gets wider....

I start with a set of lights at the bottom of the poll (fake tree) so that the cord is there to plug in but with those lights I wrap the poll from bottom to top (I like having lights shine from within the tree) and then I work on the tree top to bottom.
