Trees that are on the strip between the sidewalk and the street
I know that they are town property, but we are responsible for pruning them.
What happens when one dies? There is a huge one in front of our house that has barely any leaves on it, so we are nervous that it's almost dead and will come down on the house in a big storm. DH thinks we can't have it removed.
TIA!

Re: Trees that are on the strip between the sidewalk and the street
We had one like that. I wrote a letter to the town and in it said that this tree was dead and it was starting to drop branches and if one of my kids got hit by a falling branch then watch out! Ok, granted...it was worded more eloquently than that.....
Anyway, they came out, had to inspect the tree first to make sure that it was indeed dead or dying. Then they came back and took it down. A few months later they came back again and repaired the sidewalk.
The whole process was no trouble at all.

We had a tree that was causing the sidewalk to raise. The town cut it down a few weeks ago and now we are trying to find out if we or the town are going to fix the sidewalk and how much it will cost.

Thanks! I'll get to work on a letter.
