triplet moms, how long u worked?

I am 15 weeks and starting to worry about how we will manage financially with my horrible maternity leave. I have 6 weeks. I am trying to save like never before!

I dont want to go on bedrest unless it's absolutely necessary. How long did you all work until with triplets? what's realistic? given the fact that I would have no complications? hopefully!!

Re: triplet moms, how long u worked?

With no complications what so ever and I wasnt on any type of bed rest at the time...both my OB and my high risk wanted me out of work by 21 weeks. But I did work in the Bronx, so I had an hour or more commute each way and I was a special education teacher where I was on my feet all day and never had a chance to sit or relax.

Hope this helps! I think most doctors want to take you out earlier than later for precautionary measures. When carrying triplets the weight gets heavy pretty quickly and the doctors are concerned about pre-term labor and your cervix shortening.

Re: triplet moms, how long u worked?

I also did not have any complications. I stopped working at 24 weeks due to my commute to the city (one hour plus each way). I also did a lot of traveling within the 5 boroughs due to my job. Doctor was worried. I was never put on bedrest. I was admitted to the hospital at 32 weeks due to contractions and I am now on hospital bedrest for the duration of my pregnancy. I have not broken water and my cervix is still closed. However, my doctor wants to monitor me and thinks that I can make it to 36 weeks. I will be 34 weeks on Monday...YAY!!!! Taking it a day at a time.

By the way.....check with your employer but I believe you are entitled to FMLA (12 week disability) besides your maternity leave.

I definately plan on taking the FMLA, but it's not paid. I guess this is something I"ll just have to wait and see how everything goes. Thanks for responding.

I am pregnant with twins & pulled out of work at 17 weeks. I do get paid half of my regular salary, but still very bored since I am not on bedrest.

If you can try to work as long as possible, but be prepared because I am sure you will be pulled out of work early also.

They took me out of work at 23 weeks, but I have a physical job. I think everyone is different.

In many/most jobs, FMLA runs concurrently with maternity leave.
