Phew. I am well-stocked in birth control, whiskey, wine and beer.
No need to panic for me.

My best friend texted me to say her office was in a tizzy (she works in science for the government, not weather but close). 50/50 chance it could slam NYC and has Sandy-like potential.
At this point, just prepare. What's the worst in being prepared?
The media is hyping it up to be Sandy-like. There were more factors for that storm (full moon, etc). This storms doesn't have any of that. It is definitely NOT a storm like Sandy.

yes, but saying shit like that to whip everyone into a frenzy sells papers, increases viewership of the news, and click through rates on online sites. Shhhhh

Tropical Storm?
I think there is "getting ready" as in making sure you have batteries, flashlights...making sure you do have some cans in the house, making sure you have gas for the gas grill.
*IF* this becomes a big thing I would rather have al the big stuff out of the way (List I just had) then scrambling at the last moment when everyone does.

Everyone, just calm down. I just sent DH to buy us a generator. That will ensure the storm will never hit. Just like the winter we bought the snow blower...zero snow. Your welcome.

never hurt to have a few extra cases of water in the house.
Target wasn't a mad house... yet.
Got water, hot dog rolls and diapers. DH will hit the liquor store. We must divide and conquer.

We are one town over by the water and were affected by Sandy.
I've had major anxiety since last night, primarily due to what everyone is posting.
As a positive, I work for the largest health and hospital system for the area, and have not gotten any alerts yet.
We usually do and they tend to be spot on if something big is goiing to hit.
I am planning to get a concrete truck this time around and fill in my basement if it's another Sandy!

Yes !! Please!! DH and I finally accepted an offer on our house that was affected by Sandy and the last thing I need is for this storm to make our buyer change their mind!!
PS. I think Joquin is a dumb name for a storm. I still think it should be pronounced Joe-Quin and not Wa-keen.

For Sandy my husband wouldn't let me drink in case something happened. And now I'm preggo - no drinking again.

I hope it ends up being nothing. I can't really stock up on too much because I need to be packing up my kitchen before it gets renovated next week.
