trouble at work?
I know that this is a silly question but...... does anyone else have a hard time concentrating at work? My infertility seems to always be on my mind and sometimes I get a little emotional when my co-workers talk about their kids and have their pictures posted everywhere. I also need to add that I find that I get more work. Maybe it's because my boss thinks I can handle it since I have less at home responsiblities. I also work every holiday weekend so my peers can have off with their kids. My boss acually said in front of me " Oh Jill will work Mother's Day, she doesn't have any kids!" Yea but I have a mom! Please tell me I'm not alone in this. It's crazy but I think if I was able to have a baby I would fit in better!

Re: trouble at work?
Next time your boss says that to you please tell him that having or not having a child should not be the only factor in deciding who has to work evenings or weekends. That is just plain unfair. You have a family--regardless of being a parent or not.

Re: trouble at work?
Everyone I work with that is married is either pregnant of has kids other than me. They assume that kids aren't in my game plan yet and tell me oh your not ready for kids you'll have them down the road....or I get asked so when are you guys going to have kids, blahblahblah...
I just tell them I'm on the whatever happens happens plan but I really want to tell them to mind their own business. Unfortunately, I feel as though people who have never had problems or experiences with infertility don't understand what a delicate subject it can be and don't realize that they shouldn't make assumptions.

Re: trouble at work?
I HATE the "Oh you don't have kids so you can do more work around here c r a p!!!!"
I used to get it when I was single for so long, meanwhile I actually had MORE work because I took care of my disabled Dad. A kid is portable, a 57 year old disabled man isn't.
People have to realize that we are all entitled to a life and whether you have kids or not should not dictate your workload. The job requirements should and it should be as equal as possible... kids, pets, whatever other responsibilities. I worked with a lot of women who would use their kids (some as old as high school... sorry they are not babies) as an excuse not to run an after school club or activity but my principal would call me out on it. One day I finally explained my situation to him and never heard another word again.
