TRU Swingset vs. Costco?

TRU is 1/2 the price of Costco's wood one. We're still debating wood vs. vinyl but that a whole other issue.
Does anyone have a TRU wooden set? How is it?

This is TRU

Re: TRU Swingset vs. Costco?

There is a reason for the price difference. We compared the 2 and IOO the Costco sets are much better quality wise. Many of the TRU sets are thin lumber pine. Pine just simply doesn't hold up. I had pine furniture years ago and would never do it again--it's so soft. Most of the Costco sets are cedar which is where you will get your longevity. I can't see spending $3500 on a PVC set that you only need to last a good 10 years. The Costco sets will last that long for a fraction of the price. Believe me DH has no issues spending the $$ but even he agreed the PVC set was not necessary. If you read the reviews online that Costco set has excellent reviews Chat Icon

Thanks. I think we have talked ourselves out of PVC which is what we were originally leaning toward. We'll just have to stain the wood every couple of years but it's worth the cost savings I think.

The Costco set is a Rainbow system too which is a good company.

I agree I was not impressed with the quality or strength of the wood in the TRU sets. That is the reason we bought the one we did with reinforced steel on the support beams. I think the Costco one is much better in quality
