Trucks on the Northern State Pkwy.....
at least one to two times a week, I am sitting in traffic because a truck attempted to go underneath a bridge and it ripped it apart.
do they NOT realize they're not gonna make it through in one piece??
do they think their truck will defy the laws of physics, or suddenly strink to size in order to fit underneath??

In the truckers defense, the signs s*ck on LI. If you weren't from around here, you probably wouldn't realize that the "Parkways" are meant only for cars.
I drive a vehicle that requires high clearance and those signs with the height clearance are tough to read/see and they come up quick. I just happen to be more aware of it b/c I'm familiar with the Island.

are you telling me that a driver in a MACK TRUCK can't look at that little bridge, and somehow know he AINT GOING TO MAKE IT TO THE OTHER SIDE WITH HIS TRUCK IN TACT???????

the trucks usually "wander" on the to Parkways because the signs on the LI roads s*ck!! and by the time then go down the ramp, they dont have enough time to stop...therefore getting stuck under the overpass.

I don't buy the signs stink argument. Not that I think the signs are great, but if you drive a truck for a living, part of your job is to know what routes you can take and which you can't. And IMO, a professional truck driver should know that trucks are NOT ALLOWED on parkways in NY.

I agree with you on the professional driver part but the trucks that seem to get stuck are out of state drivers.

What burns me is the exit from the LIE to the Northern State after Roslyn Road. There are PLENTY of signs that you'd be blind not to see them. And yet there's always that one truck.....

well i'll be leaving work very soon, so hopefully there won't be 'that one truck'....

I know how you feel. Ugghh!! That happened a few days ago coming home from work, major traffic jam cuz of that. Don't they realize they are the only trucks on the parkway for some strange reason????
