I actually haven't seen anyone say they are surprised he said it. I'm definitely not. My point was I can't fathom how women can vote for him, especially now that we have actual recordings of him talking about sexual assault as if it's nothing.

I don't even have words for him at this point. At this point I assume he was married to Melania. And he was 58 years old- not some frat punk.

How can you interpret "grab them by the *****" as anything but assault?

I now have a new criterion for making a decision about a President- would I let the candidate be alone in a room with my kid? I would say yes to Hillary, Obama, Bernie, even Romney, Bush, McCain- but Trump? No ******* way, ever.

I'm glad you're fine writing this off as a dirty old man shooting the shit with a friend. But this is rape culture. By definition. Allowing men, and ESPECIALLY men in positions of power, to get away with speaking and acting like this because it's "how men are" (I feel very sorry for any woman who has men in her life who are like this) is the reason we have the Brock Turners of the world. Young boys and men are and will continue to grow up thinking they can say and do whatever they want to and about women and women's bodies if we brush this language and behavior off as meh.

I have a feeling a lot of women are very sheltered from how men Speak to one another when there aren't any women around.

I am not shocked by this kind of talk. Especially By a rich man who probably had his share of women because of who he is.

If he wasn't running for office, nobody would even be talking about this in this way.

This was a private conversation between two horn dogs. More men talk like this then don't. This wasn't recorded yesterday but a long time ago when he was just a rich old man.

I'm not It defending him and what was said - its not the nicest stuff to hear. But ... this is how men/guys/guidos - whatever you want to call it... this is how they talk when it's just guys.

What do you think men talk about on bachelor parties to strip joints? Stocks? How wonderful their wives are?
They objectivity the women that are rubbing their bodies on each other, they talk about what they would do with them and most of the time go to the back room to do it.

I mean Bill Clinton , our actual president was getting head under the desk while in office. Do you really think that was the only time?

I try so hard not to say anything on these posts, but the absolute shock response to this from the posts here, are shocking to me! I ether know only raunchy men OR having a lot of brothers kept me in the loop more

Edited to add:

What I find shocking and disgusting is how almost every post that has to do with trump always has "and anyone who would vote for him is....
That, to me, is so absolutely wrong. It's borderline bully tactics

And BTW: I'm not pro trump and sure as shit not pro Clinton. I just hate watching these threads and the absolute disregard for others choices. Whatever it may be

My husband would and has never claimed he can grab a woman's *****. And my son sure as shit never will if he knows what's good for him.

And I will not apologize for the fact that I have zero regard for any woman who can vote for this man. I just don't. If that makes me a bully - so be it. But you know who is ACTUALLY a bully? The man who has now proven with his words that those sexual assault claims against him are likely true. There's your bully.

Sexual assault?
Taking it to a place it's not from. He didn't in up and down the street or on the train grabbing vaginas

He was talking shit w the guy. Being a dirty old man. And like I said before... there are plenty of women in these circles who will do anything for the $$$

That I know for sure bc unfortunately an old friend was in those circles. Not a friend anymore.

but that doesn't make it OK.........it doesn't excuse this away.

Totally not trying to excuse it away. I just saw everyone rolling with this. Went to assault. Like way far from what it really is. 2 men being douchebags talking about women as objects to obtain. Unfortunately, it exists everywhere. And like i said before .. if he wasn't running for office, it wouldn't be to this extreme

This quote sums up your above debate

I think this may be the nail in his coffin. You're starting to see Republicans come out against him. Paul Ryan cancelled events with him. I think Republicans know that he shouldn't represent them or their values.

If I heard my son saying things like that it would not go well for him.

Unfortunately a lot of men do speak like this , including past presidents who have done even more then talking.

And maybe I am going off topic here , but is is ok for women to talk like this about men?

Just take a look at any David Beckham post on the celeb board and look at the comments that "we" put and no one bats and eye about.
If we reverse it and a man spoke about a women like "we" speak about certain men (David Beckham, Adam Levine, Channing Tatum , etc) would we consider them pigs?

I'm tired , don't know exactly we're I am going with this, just thoughts that pop in my head.

They are not running for President and if they were, I would expect all of us to be held to a higher standard as a presidential nominee and have to answer for our past discretions........if we were. IMO, this is just the straw the breaks the camels back and is a SPOTLIGHT on everything that is wrong with him as a human being. Not solely this comment but everything he has said. I think its very different commenting on celebrities that you are NOT interacting with than suggesting you could sexually assault someone that you ARE actually in contact with and pursuing.

I think there's a difference between the Chat Icon emoji, and saying you're going to forcibly grab a guy's package.

And again, this is a man running for president. Comparing comments on the celebrity board to the potential leader of the free world is, in my opinion, apples and oranges.

Because this election is so heated, both sides are immediately on the defensive. But had this been any other leader that made these comments-school superintendent, Steve Bellone/Ed Mangano/Bill DeBlasio, etc. there would be outrage from the public and an immediate resignation.

I am
Not a trump fan by any means

I don't condone what he said

But I totally see what Phyllis is saying.

I've heard similar talk from men and woman

And if you scroll down the celeb board you would find some things that nobody is batting a eye at

And before the claws come out and teach me a lesson and send me links and rip me a new one

I'm not defending. I know what rape culture is.

I'm saying he is a pig. But he always has been.

I'm more surprised that people are surprised that he has said things like this

Yeah, I get what Phyllis is saying. I think it's disgusting, but I think a lot of men say disgusting things. And then there are even more that might not say them, but find "locker room talk" acceptable. I'm not saying I understand it or condone it. I wish no one would think that way. I can think of a couple movies I hate because of the way they speak about women, but they're popular comedies.
I did hear the clip earlier today and I have to say, it sounded like he was joking/bragging about how women allow him to be with them, not talking about assaulting anyone. But it was still offensive.

There are a few difference between comments about a celeb on this site and what Trump said. 1) when he made these statements he was a TV celebrity and believed that gave him the power to "do anything" to women. It scares the sh!t out of me to wonder what he thinks he could do with the power of the presidency. He is absolutely the kind of person that thinks fame and celebrity give him rights and privileges over others - and would use the presidency in that way. No one commenting on the celeb board has the power to influence the stars they are commenting about nor would they actually assault someone if they had the opportunity to. 2) a major party presidential candidate is held to a much higher standard than a private persons comments on how hot they think someone is. 3) The posters in the celeb board have no responsibility for upholding the U.S. Constitution, civil rights and human rights. 4) Comments on that board do not reach millions of people on the world stage and influence the way our nation is viewed on a global basis.

I absolutely cannot agree more that we need to hold our presendent /presidential candidates to a much higher standard than others.
And I agree that there is a difference between talking about celebrities who we really don't know and people we are actually in contact with , but why?
I guess my thoughts/ideas/questions are more based on "regular men" and if there are double standards , more of a spinoff thought.

I need sleep lol

Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...

I cannot believe that the GOP nominated this ... this... I'm at a loss for words. Nice job vetting your candidate. This person, while human, has a responsibility for acting in a way that exemplifies the US and what we strive for.

I'm done being nice and PC over this. He is not fit to be my President.

No matter where you stand, in the end , I don't think many people are going to find this offensive at all.

I could sleep better at night if at least the democrats had done a better job picking their candidate.

I am really scared for Election Day because I feel like no matter who wins it is going to end up causing a problem.

Yes, some men do talk in a way to objectify women. I've heard lots like "look at the t*ts on that one" or "I'd love to bend her over," and while it's not right, it's a BIG difference between "I just grab them" and "I can't control myself."

And the thing is he still doesn't get it; he cannot see how his actions are wrong. I don't see how saying "I can't understand how a woman can vote for him" as bullying tactics. I just don't see the correlation.

And I think we really need to take a look at the meaning of opinion vs. fact. This isn't really an opinion subject overall.
