"Not my husband" "Not my kid"
People throw that around. Along with the word Never.
As niave as some of you think I am... right back at you.
And no. I don't think im "cool" because men I know allow me the knowledge that this is how men act. It's just that my eyes are always wide open. I don't choose to stay in a bubble of butterflies with a husband who walks one water
Not once did I say it was Ok he said these things. My original comment was how it doesn't shock me because this is how guys talk when they are together. And I couldn't understand everyone was so shocked that trump said them.
This can go on forever. Still doesn't shock me
I am not naive to think I know my husband better than you do.
And no - this is not "how guys talk when they are together."
Not the guys in my family.
Not my DH's friends.
Not the guys in my former, male dominated field.
Objectification? Sure.
Assault? Nope.

Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...
I just asked my husband. The truth is things like oh that girl is hot or something like of course they say.. but he said he and his friends first of all don't use "that" word (they are in their 40's) . He said it's disgusting how he talks and that most men not boys do not talk like that. So whoever thinks this is just locker room banter is rediculius. And believe me I'm no prude and grew up with a brother and guy friends.

I was never going to vote for him, but now there is 100% absolutely no way. I just wish there was a candidate I actually wanted to vote for this election. I am voting Johnson but I wish I felt comfortable voting for either of the major party candidates. But, I just can't.

Clinton. I was on the fence with him for awhile but this was the nail in the coffin for me. While I am not thrilled with her she clearly would be, at the very least, a more respectable candidate.

He was talking about forcibly sexually assaulting a woman, and that he can do anything and get away with anything because he is celebrity.
This is not locker room talk. Locker room banter.

Re: Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...
I have heard people IRL say that most men talk like that.
I fee; truly sorry for anyone whose life experiences have led them to the conclusion that that's just how men talk.
Thagt whole way of speaking. That whole way of thinking. Those words. Those thoughts. That attitude.
It's about as unhealthy and aberrant as it gets. I know Trump isn't the only one, but if that's your normal, well...that's pretty frightening. And sad.

Re: Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...
From the false equivalencies that are posted on Facebook, it seems some people are refusing to see that "I just kiss them. I don't even wait" is way, way different than "I just WANT to kiss them. I don't WANT to wait". One is banter the other is admitting that something was done without consent. Just like "I want to set that house on fire" is a stupid thing to say, but not a crime, while "I set that house on fire" is a completely different story.

Yup. It's disgusting. Someone even posted about it a couple of pages back, followed by a lol.
Between that and people making jokes or making light of this piece of filth talking about sexual assault or deflecting by talking about the clintons, I'm done.
And now he's parading (exploiting) alleged victims of bills. How low can he get. I'm nauseous.

ITA with this. There's a huge distinction. Yeah, men talk dirty. Women talk dirty. But saying you want to do something and saying yeah I do this whether they want me to or not and I get away with it because I'm a celebrity is NOT okay. And no, my husband, brother, father, brother-in-law, male friends would NEVER say that.
ETA: Though honestly, while this is vile, I don't know why anyone is surprised. This is just as bad as other things he's said IMO. I don't know why everyone is pulling for him to drop out now, but I'm glad they are. I hope this is a turning point in the election because it honestly had me a little scared there.

Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...
To me the difference is that men who objectify women like this are generally joking, would never act on it, would never think their inherent maleness gives them power over female bodies this way.
Trump believes what he says, that his name, money, power and male biology allows him the power to assault women. He believes it is his right. And that is what separates the normal, every day jocular kind of speech versus this.
And men now have a responsibility to use this moment to tell their children that women are not play things, sexual or otherwise, existing only for male pleasure. We now need to explain to the sons and daughters of this country that a presidential nominee speaks this way and has no remorse, that he is not sorry, only sorry that he got caught.

Re: Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...
I've read just about every response in this thread and I have a couple of thoughts that respond to different things on different pages.. I'll just throw them all out here.
1. We don't use the n word anymore. We don't refer to mentally disabled people as ret*ards anymore. Things change when we make them change. This 'locker room talk' does not have to happen forever. WE don't have to accept it.
2. No one is shocked by this, and no one should be shocked because this PIG has been showing us all who he is from day 1.
3. This is beyond locker room, boys will be boys nonsense. He was wearing a FREAKIN MICROPHONE. He KNEW IT!!! That is beyond egregious and every single woman in this country should be appalled.
4. ENOUGH with what Bill Clinton did. Bill Clinton is not running for office. We were not aware of his shenanigans while he was running for office. Also, Monica and Ginnifer consented. The others probably did not, and he's a pig too. That's not his wife's doing.
5. In 50 Shades of Grey, before there was any sexual contact at all, there was a signed consent agreement. There is no comparison to a woman choosing to read a book - READ, not write or express desire to be treated like the woman in the story - to me being appalled that the man who wants to be president of my country would grab my vagina without compunction should he just decide to do so.
I have slapped more than my share of men in the face for touching me - including bosses of mine - and I haven't come close to assaulting every man who has crossed the line with me. It took me quite a few years to learn that I can hit back. I'm furious that I have to teach my daughter that she is to hit, kick, scream, bite anyone who dares touch her body without her consent but I will. And my son will learn and is learning that women are to be respected, with your words and with your actions, and you never, ever touch someone who says they don't want to be touched. EVER. He's 6. Trump's 70. Why doesn't he know better???

See, but I think part of Trump's success is that he appeals to people who look back on that time as the "good old days" and yearn for a return to that. Many in our older generations do not like the concept of minorities (that includes women and people of color) being in leadership positions with a few exceptions. Those same people hate that people like Obama and Clinton are succeeding and like the idea of Trump (an arrogant, rich, white man) in office because that is what they believe was the norm.
I really hope that we, as a country, continue on the path of progress and vote Clinton into office. In my heart of hearts, I really believe that she will be our next president but you never know in this crazy world of ours.

I have said that too, especially on LIF, that Making America Great again really just means going back to a time when white men were firmly in positions of power, racial strife was easily subdued and not as present in the media, illegal immigrants weren't "stealing" jobs, women were only considered to be competent in the sphere of domesticity or in feminized careers like secretaries and teachers...and people of Trump's generations see that time as the good ol days and they want to go back to that. They don't want the government to subsidize poor people, they believe everyone just needs to pull themselves up by their bootstraps to get somewhere in life, they want the freedom to bear arms and say whatever they want without any repercussions because being politically or socially correct is for wimps.

Absolutely correct. My FIL basically said he would never vote for a woman. He'll vote for Trump because he's a pig just like Trump is, just without the money or power.
He's raised his daughters to not retaliate to any kind of aggression from a man. My 22 yo SIL had her ass groped recently by some guy at a bar but she was afraid to respond lest she be assaulted further, whereas I say, hit as hard as you can and if he hits you back then you press charges.
I'm sure my FIL isn't my biggest fan either.

This is EXACTLY what "make America great again" is code for. When people say they want to make America great again, what they're really saying is they want it to go back to a time when men would chase their secretaries around a desk, when women would get a slap on the ass for doing a good job, a woman's place was in the kitchen, when a woman's purpose in life was to be a wife and mother and aspired to be a homemaker with a hot meal ready on the table when the man of the house got home, when gays were in the closet, when Muslims were people who lived in other countries, when a Mexican's job was to pick your fruit and mow your lawn, when it was acceptable to ban non-whites and non-Christians from joining an organization, when African Americans "knew their place" was at the back of the bus, before affirmative action was implemented, and I'm pretty sure there are many Trump supporters who would love to go back to a time when minorities had their own schools and water fountains lest they get hosed down for drinking from the white fountain, and now let's add when men sexually assaulted women without repercussions. It doesn't get lower than all this. It says a lot when the leader of the KKK is openly out there in full support of a candidate. This is pretty much all I see when someone says they are a Trump supporter. I'm picturing what they must look like with their white hood on.
