Trump Reverses Himself On 6 Major Issues In 2 Days

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-reverses-himself_us_58ee7ffee4b0b9e98488ea64?

Four of these reversals alone came in an interview with The Wall Street Journal published Wednesday:

Trump said the Chinese are “not currency manipulators.” Just last week, he said they were “world champions” of currency manipulation, and he pledged throughout his campaign to label China a currency manipulator on his first day in office. He tweeted in 2012 that President Barack Obama’s failure to call China a currency manipulator “helped China steal even more jobs and money from us.”

Trump said, “I do like a low interest-rate policy.” During his campaign, he excoriated the Federal Reserve for keeping rates low, and said in 2011 that the policy would lead to hyperinflation.

Trump said he was open to the idea of reappointing Janet Yellen to head the Federal Reserve. On the campaign trail, he said he would “most likely” replace her. “I like her, I respect her,” Trump told the Journal at the time.

Trump said he supported the Export-Import Bank, noting that small companies are “really helped” by the institution. During the campaign, he said the bank was unnecessary.

On each of these issues, Trump’s turnabout puts him in lockstep with the Washington economic policy consensus. And in each case, Trump is walking away ? at least for now ? from the heterodox views he expressed during the campaign. This week’s reversals follow his shift on Syria last week, when Trump fired cruise missiles at an airbase after repeatedly saying he opposed U.S. involvement in the country’s civil war.

Also on Wednesday, Trump reversed his position on NATO, telling reporters, “They made a change and now they do fight terrorism. I said it was obsolete. It’s no longer obsolete.”
...
In an interview with Fox Business Network that was taped on Tuesday, Trump blasted Obama for not striking Syria in 2013 ? even though Trump repeatedly tweeted at the time that Obama should not do so.
...

So, since he is completely reversing almost all of his stances and promises to his base that got him elected, I guess these are positive things? Chat Icon

Other than Gorsuch, I think he's completely changed his promise and direction (or outright failed to accomplish) on everything that got him elected.

He is, and always has been, completely full of $hit. It all goes back to the fact that he doesn't really know what the hell he's doing and has VERY little, if any, understanding of his role or how things work in government. He says whatever he thinks will get a rise out of people, then realizes his pie in the sky nonsense won't fly so then he changes his position and promises more cr@p he won't deliver on.

He is just stumbling through this presidency like a hot mess while accomplishing nothing, taking credit for everything, and very likely just making everything worse in this country.

He should based on what has been happening over the last few weeks. He has information now that he wasn't privy to as a candidate and things are changing quickly in the environment . i would hope that he would take that info into consideration. Syria, North Korea and Russia are a big problem. He needs to do what is right regardless of what his base thinks. If he held his ground you would say he is only out for himself. He won't keep Yellen on at the end of her term but right now he needs her to be very vigilant on the economy because what is happening with North Korea and Russia will have big impacts on the markets. The interst rates will go up at least once more before the end of the year if not twice and they need to because of inflation. The President has no say over that.

I hope his changes in thinking are effective because if they aren't our country could be in big trouble.

The guy is damned if he doea and damned if he doesn't.

It's not that he's damned if he does and if he doesn't, it's that he opened his big fat mouth about things he knew NOTHING about during the campaign and made definitive statements about things he knew nothing about. I am glad he is willing to re-think some of these things, but the way he spoke about these things during the campaign was that HE was the ONLY ONE who knew what the real deal was - and now we can all see that he really had no clue. And since he is backtracking on so many things, I would think his supporters wouldn't be too happy about that.

You just described everyone that has ever run for President. Obama was a junior Senator when he ran. He was no expert! People say what thwir base wanta to hear to get elected. For Trump it worked. Now I am happy to see he is being flexible and pivoting with the very quickly changing enviornment.

Even if that is true, the way Trump delivered his thoughts was very off-putting (to put it mildly) for a lot of people. Instead of putting forth IDEAS, Trump bashed other's ideas in a hateful and nasty way. Instead of talking about WHY he thought NATO was obsolete, he just bashed it - until now when he realizes he needs it and "now it's not obsolete."

Oh please. Candidates are briefed once they get to a certain point. He had the information at his fingertips but he doesn't want to do the work. He's not flexible. He's mercurial. Big difference.

People keep forgetting there is very credible evidence he is a repeat sexual predator. I am curious - to Trump supporters who have children: if one of your children was a victim (God forbid) and then the predator got to the highest office of the land would you give him the benefit of the doubt?

I don't think so.

I will say as long as I am breathing, you CANNOT compare ANY other president in the history of this country to the incompetent fool we have sitting in the WH right now. To think anyone is "whining" about him and not see WHY the MAJORITY of Americans don't trust him or his judgement just demonstrates how ignorant you are to what is going on in Washington right now. Support him to your hearts content but please, don't make it seem like anyone who doesn't support him is "whining" because they aren't and you're SO off base with that comment. I literally cannot take the "get over it and deal" attitude of Trump supporters.

I am really wondering this as a Trump supporter are you OK with his tweets? And his constant whining about things that arent even relevant anymore such as the whole election and the fact the hillary won the popular vote etc? Cause IMO he needs to get over that already. His constant fake news and so forth.

So you didn't likeep his delivery....Get over it already.

It goes way beyond that. But glad to see you speak the party language - "get over it already" - that's all Trump supporters ever have to say Chat Icon Its not about getting over it. It's about being disgusted by our president for so many reasons and his supporters who would bash any other politician for not keeping their promises but give him a pass no matter what

I am not giving him a pass on anything. I am watching what is going to happen. If I don't like something I will make my voice heard. For example I called my Senators on Devos. I will be waiting to see what happens now. I don't like Bannon either. ******** on LIF isn't going to change that. I am also not going to throw everything he does under the bus because I don't like certain things. You can be disgusted with our President. I don't have to agree. But I won't have people generalize me. I didn't vote for Obama but I didn't spend my days bashing him or whinging about him.I watched and listened and made my voice heard when I felt it necessary. Same as I do now. I didn't generalize his supporters, I didn't unfriend them on facebook. I was a grown-up who may have had different opinions anfrom that was ok. I didn't need to understand why they felt the way they did. I respected their opinion.End of story.

I want to address where you said you didn't spend your days "bashing or whining" about Obama.

What Trump supporters need to realize is just how threatened many categories of the vulnerable are under Trump.

It's not even partisan at this point. Bush/Cheney had WAY more empathy for minorities, the poor, women, etc.

You didn't "whine" about Obama because he didn't threaten your livelihood, your ability to put food on the table, your ability to marry who you love, or your access to health care. Or...I could go on. If he did, you would - and should - have fought hard against him.

And your description of the (mostly well organized and effective) resistance as "whining" would be offensive if I gave a shit what anyone thought.
