Trying to deal with the death of my Dad.
It's been about 6 weeks since my dad died suddenly. Yesterday was his birthday and the week before we were suppose to be celebrating my parent's 40th anniversary at the Manor East. He is the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing I think about before bed. There are times I feel like the whole thing never really happened and that he just a way. If I saw him tomorrow, it wouldn't feel strange.
It's hard to think of the future without him. He was such a big part of his grandchildren's lives and my children will never have the opportunity to experience that.
It just plain svcks that we didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye. But I know he knew how much we all loved him.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Trying to deal with the death of my Dad.
Hugs to you! I feel like we experienced the same thing. When my dad died, two weeks later was his birthday, followed by my parents anniversary a week later. Its so so hard and I know what you mean about thinking about it all the time before you go to bed and the minute you wake up. My dad has been gone almost 8 months and I can say, the pain is still there, but it gets easier and there will come a day that your every thought is not punctuated by his death. You will find happiness again. Its a different happiness. Thinking about my kids and how much my dad is missing is the worst part.
Know that what you are feeling is totally normal and it will get better. It wont go away, but your days will get easier.

Re: Trying to deal with the death of my Dad.
Thanks everyone for all your kind words. Everyday is different, some are ok, others are not so good. Today was a not so good day. It was my best friends b-day and I think b/c my dad's b-day was only 3 days ago, it made it hard.

Re: Trying to deal with the death of my Dad.
my dad died march 6... i too struggle with it on a daily basis. and, one of the major things that i get upset about is that he won't have the opportunity to know my kids "in person."
i pray that the people who tell me it gets easier are right.... and i hope you find the same peace i wish for myself and my family.

My dad died that very same night. Sometimes when I least expect it something will remind me of him and I just want to cry. This past weekend my family and I had to go to a wake at the same funeral home in the same room, that was extremely difficult. I think the anticipation of the first everything will be the hardest. Yesterday I was thinking about Father's Day a lot.

Re: Trying to deal with the death of my Dad.
I have been through the same thing with my Dad. He died suddenly five years ago this past April. My heart goes out to you and your family. You said it best - some days are good and some are not. I can tell you that as time passes it will get easier. I look at where my mom and my siblings are now and where we were three years ago in the grieving process and it's encouraging. Keep your chin up as best you can, and the days you can't, well, that's ok too

Re: Trying to deal with the death of my Dad.
Thank you everyone for the kind words. Friday will 3 months since my Dad passed a way and it hasn't gotten any easier. I think about him all the time. Specially when I am by myself and when it is real quiet. He is the last thing I think about at night and the first thing I think about in the morning.
It's hard with my mom too. She really can't do anything on her own. A lot of it then gets put on the shoulders of my sister and me. And my sister's father-in-law just found out he has throat cancer and is getting operated on tomorrow. Hopefully everything with him will be okay, but he might not make it . My mom is only 60, but she was very dependent on my Dad.
I feel very stressed out with everything and coming to the end of the school yesr ( I am a teacher), I feel like I am at my breaking point.
Well, thank you once agian for letting me vent.
