Trying to have a specific sex
I know I would be blessed again to have either sex...especially seeing that they told me it was virutally impossible to have my DD. If we can do it again, I know it will be the last and always would have liked a little boy. I know there are certain times/food/ovulation that factors in and thought I would play by the rules for a month to see if it would work. I know theres some book...that I will never have time to read. Anyone know what the deal is? Tried it? Did it work?

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
I didn't do it on purpose but it worked out that way.
Because boy sperm swim faster, but girl sperm live longer, this is how it works:
If you want a boy, have sex as close as possible to your O date. That might mean BDing every day. That's easy.
If you want a girl, it's a bit harder. You will have to predict your O date, and try to have sex 2-3 days beforehand, and then abstain from sex till after you O.
When we were TTC #2, I didn't care what we had, just wanted to be pregnant again. We BD only once during O time, on a date I thought was 1 day before O. I O'd late that month, so maybe that helped us have a girl, who knows,

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
I gender swayed with DC #1. I used the Shettles Method (which LB described above) and it worked. We tried for a girl and we got a girl. It takes a little while longer though if you are TTC a girl since you should stop BD a couple days before ovulation.

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
Well a few weeks ago at my cousins bridal shower someone at our table suggested I go to a specialist for a sperm wash
I have two boys...honestly I think it's just luck of the draw.

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
Hmm I wonder about this because I had a girl and BD'd every day up to O, I think at least 4 days up til O. (I wasn't trying for any specific sex, just trying to get pregnant)
Just wondering for #2 cuz I'd like to try for a

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
my sister has 3 girls and wanted to try for a 4th . she did the shettles method and got a boy.
my friend had an IUI which is timed specifically to when u O and had a girl.
I think the shettles method works but i also think if ur dh comes from a line of all boys chances are ur most likelu going to have a boy..

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
We tried this w/ #2 & it worked & we got our . They also suggested eating a lot of bananas & avoiding acidic foods. They say it changes the PH balance in your body & the acidic is bad for the "boy" sperm.
We BD'd on the day I O & got our boy. We conceived our girl 2 days b4 I O.

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
I didn't try anything specific for any pregnancy. I believe it's random, but I read somewhere that women that have cereal every morning are more likely to have boys. I eat cereal every morning and had 2 boys. Not sure if it's coincidence or not!

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
Go to www.ingender.com. There are crazy ideas on there but some of the less crazy ones are worth a try! I mostly followed the theory that making your body more acidic will help conceive a girl, and I had DD after two boys. Could have been coincidence, who knows!

So wait..Im trying to understand...so theres really one day per month to try to have a boy? The day you O? And all the other days that surround it, you are more likely to have a girl? Did you guys that tried this buy an O kit? I have no idea when I O. And Im assuming BD means have sex...correct?

Re: Trying to have a specific sex
Personally, I think these methods are a bunch of BS. I had an IUI, which was timed perfectly with my ovulation, and I had a boy AND a girl.

BD=baby dance (sex) Yes, you will need an ovulation kit (or at least I did to know the exact day of O). I didn't care about the sex of the baby, but I knew when I was ovulating, so we just BD the week before (every day) and the week following. So, following these methods, I could have had either boy or girl, but boy sperm swim faster, so apparently even if girl sperm are in there, the boys will win.
However, if it is soooo much harder to have a girl, why is the population over 50% female? It would seem like if there are only 2 days/month that you are likely to have a girl, the world would be overpopulated w/ men.
