TTC for a while and the doctor
Just a question....did anyone go back to their regular OB after a certain number of months of trying with no luck? I didn't know if I should make an appt with mine.
We have been trying for 5 months (which I know is not a long time) but I feel like I want to talk to her and show her my charts and etc.
What do you think?

It can't hurt to talk to her. They usually say that healthy couples under 35 could take up to a year to get PG. After 35 they should see a doc after 6 months.

Re: TTC for a while and the doctor
Well my OB told me the first time and my new OB told me this time that it can take a normal couple 1 year so that if you had no problems they told me to see them at 1 year - however I had PCOS so I was told to try for 3 months on my own then I would be sent to an RE to monitor and talk to them about some options.

Yes!
How old are you?
We are both way under 35, so we waited until the 9 month mark to speak to the ob/gyn. At that time, I had my annual and DH went for an SA.
Everything was normal so they said to try for 3 more months and then come back.
Now, we're doing CD 3 bloodwork and the HSG as our next steps.
CD 3 bloodwork was good, HSG is today - and then we will see where to go from there!
I think the easiest thing at this point in your TTC efforts would be to have DH get an SA done. It's the least invasive thing and I think is one of the most common reasons for young couples not to get pregnant right away.

Because I am over 35 my Dr. said try for 6 months and if nothing happens then go and see him. Our appt is at the end of the month.

Again with the you being so knowledgeable part!
I am 29 and DH is 35. So yes I know we have time but I was just wondering if I should speak to her again.
How do I go about getting DH to get a SA done?
I am also concerned with my LP. Some cycles it is only 10 days and I have been taking 300 mg of Vitamin B6 and a Bcomplex for 3 months now.

DH went to our PCP to get his done - they use the same lab as the ob/gyn so I felt comfortable doing that. I think he can also go through a urologist, or through your ob/gyn.
I would definitely speak to your doctor about your LP. That could be hurting your changes of getting or sustaining pregnancy, from what I have read.
Best of luck, and you know you can come to me with any questions you have!

OK I will have DH go through PCP for SA. Thanks!
Can you take a look at my charts on FF friend again and let me know your thoughts on LP? Thanks!
I think I may call my OB and schedule an appointment for after AF is gone.

Re: TTC for a while and the doctor
9 days is definitely too short of a luteal phase. I think anything under 10 days is considered LPD (Luteal Phase Defect) - you can probably google that to get more information!
I would absolutely speak to your doctor about that! They might be able to give you some advice or a plan to help you with that

I just called my doc and they are closed for the day. I will call on Monday.
I googled LPD and it said the B6 thing but it also mentioned possible needing more progesterone and also Clomid. I think talking to my doctor is the best plan right now.
Thanks!

Re: TTC for a while and the doctor
sorry i missed the 'action' on this thread....
when Dave and i first started TTC'ing - we were told to wait a year before any form of a doctors' appointment....
we have been ttc'ing for 6 months now and have never had luck. I have been charting/temping/etc for 3 months and have a 9 -10 day LP.
I went back to the doc with this info and was told that if there is an ISSUE - (such as a short LP) - a 6 month time period is all you should do (depending on your age). I am 33 1/2 - so time is a factor for me.
good luck to you!

Jess- Thanks so much for the info!
Ithink we may try 1 more month (so it will be 6 months) and then go with the charts and etc so my doc can see the LP.
Did you go to the doc yet to discuss everything since you are at the 6 month point?

Our RE appointment is on Tuesday (we're heading to NY after the appt for the GTG). We'll see what they have to say.
You do have to be aware though - some doctors don't 'agree' with charting/temping. Taking Charge of Your Fertility talks about how some docs don't agree with the whole philosophy of it...so just have that in the back of your head....

Re: TTC for a while and the doctor
Thanks! I will wait it out one more month and hope for the best and then make an apt with my doc. My doc is pretty good. I am hoping she will be open to discussing the charting and CBEFM.
Can't wait to meet you on Tues!
