Tubes for 1 year old?
Talk me through this. Has anyone's baby had them this young? Ronan is on his 4th double ear infection in 8 weeks. He gets them gets cranky, won't sleep, I take him to the Dr gets antibiotics takes for 10 days feels good for about a week total and then is infected again. We have a consult Thursday but if anyone has BTDT I'd love your feedback. Steph I will call you later to discuss also

Re: Tubes for 1 year old?
The ENT we saw would not consider putting in tubes unless they had a longer history of infection...eight weeks would not be long enough to consider tubes. He thought that in my DS case that he never really got rid of the original infection. He also thinks ear infections are misdoagnosed frequently as there can often be fluid/mucous in the ear without infection.
As they grow the tubes drain better. ..hopefully you can wait it out? Hopefully your LO will reach that milestone soon and no longer suffer with the infections.
A little boy from my church just had them put in last week at 18 months old after 22 infections!

Oh sorry I wasn't clear-he's had previous infections too. I actually think they may consider because of antibiotic resistance concerns. Thanks

yes, this is what happened to miki, she never had an ear infection at all her first year of life, then between 1-2 years old, she had like 8 or so and the antibiotics were not working
I think you should do it, she has been SO much better since the tubes.....

Re: Tubes for 1 year old?
My cousins' son got tubes that young. He had ear infection after ear infection and antibiotics would no longer clear them.

Re: Tubes for 1 year old?
My DD which is 13months has had an ear infection over a month now. They have tried 3 different antibiotics and nothing has worked. DH took her to an ENT last week since her PED recommended that we speak with a specialist since we are flying in Feb and they do not want her to fly with her ears like that. Well the ENT wants us to return in 3 weeks to see if the ne meds worked and if not e want to put tubes in before we fly.
