Tugging at the ears?

Julia started tugging at her ears today- she's never done this before - could it be that she realized she has ears- or is it likely an ear infection? She isn't whiney - but has been pulling at both of them - im dreading this...but

If it is an ear infection, What other symptoms should i look for?

Re: Tugging at the ears?

Thats a sign of teething, also it took me a few weeks to notice that Noah tugged at his ears when he is tired. Thats his tired sign!

Re: Tugging at the ears?

Hayley did this too and she didn't have an infection....and when she did have an infection I didn't know because she always tugged at her ears.

I took her to the dr the other day because I thought she had another infection and he asked is she congested and I said no so he said its not an ear infection...I give up!

Re: Tugging at the ears?

Emily started doing this around when she started teething. She also does it when she's tired, just like Noah.

I don't think it would be out of the question for you to get her checked, just in case, but most likely it's just the teething and sleepyness.

You can gently rub from the back of her earlobe downward to ease the pain. Motrin & a warm compress will also help.

More than likely not an ear infection. I agree with the others fluid buildup in the ears is common during teething but the fluid IS NOT infected.

Hope she feels better soon!
