Tummy tuck
Didn't you just have your baby like a month ago? I'd give it a little more time before jumping under a knife for an elective procedure. Especially if you plan on having more kids. jmo

Re: Tummy tuck
A friend had it done. It was a major operation and she was out of work for a month. You have drains attached to you and everything- it was a nasty recovery. I'm just all about Spanx!

Re: Tummy tuck
Had a modified tummy tuck about 4 yrs ago. It's not an easy recovery. I didn't have any young ones to take care of. And I still had a minor complication.
The only regret I have is that I didn't go for the full tummy tuck. The dr didn't think I needed it. He's probably right if I just exercised a bit more

This is what I was going to say. It can take months for your uterus to no longer be swollen. Give it some time.

I'm not looking into it now. I want more children and then I'm thinking I'll have one.

Talk to me
I would not consider going through an unnecessary surgery to have a flatter or tighter stomach. I would not risk it for a superficial thing. I would not want to have something done where I couldn't lift my child even if it was for only one day (unless absolutely necessary). I have my extra stretch but I have my two amazing boys to show for it and that is all that is important to me.

I don't think she was looking for shaming, I think she was looking for those with experience. Having had two sets of twins, I would also be interested in hearing others experiences.

Tummy tuck
I'm curious about this as well. For anyone who had a c section and had one, was recovery the same or worse? I didn't find the c section to be that bad and only took motrin and tylenol post op. If that's how a tummy tuck is, I think I could deal although I'd wait until my kids are older.

It's 6 weeks, not six months. Like a c section. You can do full on ab exercises after 6 weeks as the rectus repair is considered fully healed. Maybe 6 months before you can appreciate the final results because you do retain some fluid above the incision area for a little bit after.

Ita! I'd never understand that mentality!
Anyway, I'm also interested in doing this even though it won't be for a while since we're planning to have another baby, plus I wanna also wait til they're old enough.

Same with me and considering they weren't even elective, I consider myself pretty lucky to have had a pretty good recovery for both csections!

Tummy tuck
I was going to say I heard the recovery was so tough that I'd rather be fat. But now that I'm hearing it's similar to a c-section I say go for it! I had a c-section and felt 95% back to normal the next day.
And the shaming is really unnecessary. My dd was worth sacrificing my size 2 body for but that doesn't mean I wouldn't jump at the chance to have it back.

Re: Tummy tuck
I had one at the end of January of this year. I had 3 c-sections in 2011, 2013, and 2014. I was left with 4 hernias that were painful and ugly. I asked my surgeon if it was possible to have a tummy tuck since they would be in there anyway and he said yes. He recommended the tummy tuck since it would help withe the hernia repair. I had a rough recovery since my kids were so young. I came home with 2 drains and a pain pack. I loved my plastic surgeon since she also performed my sons cleft palate surgery and we were friends. If I had any concerns I would text her at any time. I do wish I spend the night after in the hospital but it was the night before the snow storm so I came home and watching my husband with my 3 young kids and I could do nothing was rough. He took a week off and my mom came over for 5 weeks straight every morning since I could not lift my 2 kids out of their cribs. After about 8 weeks or so I was able to finally look and take it all in. It looks great, my clothes fit so much better and shirts lay flat unlike before. Im not in any pain since my hernias were horrible and Im glad they are repaired. It is addicting though and I often think about what I would like done next since I nursed 2 kids and pumped for one. Send me FM if you have any questions.

oy, the way I heal it would prob be 6 month lol.
I did hear it was very painful and that scares the poop out of me.

Re: Tummy tuck
I'm confused by this thread because I keep reading responses talking about doing it to fit in smaller sizes or not be "fat" etc...but isn't a tummy tuck for loose skin?. I didn't realize it was a weight loss thing. Am I mistaken? Do they do lipo with it to remove fat or is it just for loose, hanging skin like after a pregancy or major weight loss? Like the kind of thing that all the diet and exercise in the world won't fix?

It isnt for weight loss.
My comment was because I feel I still have a little extra skin left over that couldve been removed. But if I stick to a good ab routine it tightens.
As for smaller sizes. Once the skin is removed it can help with sizing.
Ets: I was so happy I no longer needed to tuck my belly in my pants. The jeans fit so much nicer because of it.

My friend had a tummy tuck after having triplets. She has absolutely no regrets, but she said it was a really tough recovery.
I'm surprised to hear this just because carrying triplets sucked so bad, I didn't think the tummy tuck even compared to that experience :)
Unfortunately her entire experience was rough. Bed rest, complications from her c-section, almost bleeding out, it was really bad. Like I said, she's thrilled age did it, but she said thank god she had full time help at the time.
