Re: tuna and peanut butter...
I heard something about peanut butter and allergies...not sure though, and I haven't asked the doctor yet. Just wanted to see what you girls thought.

Re: tuna and peanut butter...
Tuna is very high in mercury so they advised that you stay away from it while pregnant. I think you can have a certain amount but with the risks involved, it's probably better to stay away. As far as peanut butter, they said when you peanuts or anything that contains it, there's a chance that the baby can have allergies to this so it's best to stay away from it just in case. I think every doctor will tell you something different about the foods to avoid....but if I hear anything that might just do any damage, I try to stay away from it all together.

Re: tuna and peanut butter...
Peanut butter was a staple of my GD diet - it is fine. Some say it may be linked to possible child allergies but I don't think that is proved.
Tuna steaks should be careful since high mercury. Tuna fish in moderation - that cut of the fish isn't as high in mercruy. I think a can a week is said to be fine.

Re: tuna and peanut butter...
Tuna is FINE! It should be light tuna NOT albacore and you have to limit it to less than 12oz a week. Shellfish if cooked properly is not considered harmful.
Peanut butter is great source of protien- do not use if you have a family history of peanut allergies, even if you arent, dont eat any type of peanuts. Otherwise if no family history of allergies to peanuts- Enjoy it!
this information came from my doctor from the blue orchid guides of womens health from CBR( cord blood registery)

Re: tuna and peanut butter...
No tuna or only small amounts.
I've been staying away from PB b/c DH and I have a history of allergies and my newphews have a peanut allergy. I think more important for that allergy is no peanut products for the baby for the first few years of life...
But while I read this post I decided I could have a spoonful...yum.

Re: tuna and peanut butter...
I literally ate peanut butter everyday of my pregnancy.
Tuna was limited to one can a week. I was craving it a lot at one point so I definitely ate my weekly allowance.

Re: tuna and peanut butter...
The word on tuna goes back and forth - i have tried ot avoid it mostly - but my dr told me peanut butter is a great source of protein...I love it on a wheat bagel for breakfast some days! I thought there was only a risk of allergies if you feed it to a child under 3 yrs of age.....
