Turkeys in our backyard
Our house is backed up to state land, and yesterday morning I woke up to listening to a bus in front of the neighbors house. The other day I had heard a bus with an intercom speaker, so for some odd reason (probably sleep deprivation) I thought that this bus has a speaker that gobbled like a turkey (stupid of me, I know).
Anyways, DH asks if he heard gobbling, and I replied, 'I think it was the bus.' He was like
I get in the shower, and look in the backyard, there is a big fat turkey in my backyard. Then I see 2 more, then I see 4 more....then more!! We had a total of 10 turkeys in our backyard. I sent DH downstairs to take a picture, but he didn't get 1 good picture!!

Re: Turkeys in our backyard
We see deer all of the time. The other night we saw a fox on our front lawn. Turkeys I usually see in the fall all over the place. One of my favorite things living out east is the wildlife!

We live by a farm in queens, and the first morning that we were in our new place- we woke up to a rooster- it was the oddest thing

Re: Turkeys in our backyard
That is SO COOL! Wild turkeys are hard to come by. Outside of a liquor store, that is.
I saw a ring-necked pheasant by Jones Beach a few years ago. I used to drive the same route every day and he was hanging around for about a week. So beautiful!

my dh hunts such wildlife... he travels upstate to do it. i should tell him to make a fifteen minute drive to bayshore instead of wasting so much gas!!!

Re: Turkeys in our backyard
We had a couple last fall....I love seeing them around! Of course the downside is that Misty likes to chase them....

Cool! We had a couple last fall, and then they had little baby turkeys. It was awesome! They never came into our yard, but I would see them every AM when I would walk Teemu. He loved them too

Re: Turkeys in our backyard
My friends used to have them in their yard all the time in Greenlawn - turns out they belonged to a man nearby. The dogs were afraid of them!!
