Turkeys in our backyard

Our house is backed up to state land, and yesterday morning I woke up to listening to a bus in front of the neighbors house. The other day I had heard a bus with an intercom speaker, so for some odd reason (probably sleep deprivation) I thought that this bus has a speaker that gobbled like a turkey (stupid of me, I know).

Anyways, DH asks if he heard gobbling, and I replied, 'I think it was the bus.' He was like Chat Icon

I get in the shower, and look in the backyard, there is a big fat turkey in my backyard. Then I see 2 more, then I see 4 more....then more!! We had a total of 10 turkeys in our backyard. I sent DH downstairs to take a picture, but he didn't get 1 good picture!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Turkeys in our backyard

We see deer all of the time. The other night we saw a fox on our front lawn. Turkeys I usually see in the fall all over the place. One of my favorite things living out east is the wildlife!

That is SO COOL! Wild turkeys are hard to come by. Outside of a liquor store, that is. Chat Icon

I saw a ring-necked pheasant by Jones Beach a few years ago. I used to drive the same route every day and he was hanging around for about a week. So beautiful!

We had a couple last fall....I love seeing them around! Of course the downside is that Misty likes to chase them....Chat Icon

Cool! We had a couple last fall, and then they had little baby turkeys. It was awesome! They never came into our yard, but I would see them every AM when I would walk Teemu. He loved them too Chat Icon

Re: Turkeys in our backyard

My friends used to have them in their yard all the time in Greenlawn - turns out they belonged to a man nearby. The dogs were afraid of them!!
