Turning closet into entry storage - anyone do this?
I found this pic on pinterest and want to do this in my new house. Anyone do or have something similar? Looking for some ideas!

Re: Turning closet into entry storage - anyone do this?
We have tons of closet space in our rooms, but we can still hang coats in here like this!
We just moved in last week and have a million different things to do, but I have plenty of paint left so it would match the room right next to it. I also have pillows that would match from my old couch thats just sitting in storage in our basement. So I could probably do it pretty cheap until I can afford some nicer stuff. I just have to get a bench, but I found a great way to make one by cutting the legs off an old dresser. Just have to find a smaller one bc our closet is not that big!

Target has some inexpensive bench options.

It looks cute in the model, but I wouldnt do it. IMO it wouldnt work for us. Where are the jackets? I mean my kids could put their shoes in the baskets if I really worked on them, but jackets?? When I hang them by the door they look terrible. I cant wait to have a closet.

same! come look by my back door!
BUT where will you hang your coats?
ETA I don't think you should do you. You have that other area on the way to the kitchen with the bench. I would hang some hooks like this over there instead.

LOL I have that saved on pintrest! I have a "utility" closet between the garage & kitchen & would LOVE for it to be more useful for putting on shoes and such!!!!

It's a cute idea. And it looks like there are hanger sticking out on the right, so I assume there is a rod there. BUT I think I would miss my closet. I like to close a door to hide a mess

Re: Turning closet into entry storage - anyone do this?
We are already in the habit of hanging our coats in our bedroom closets (our old house did not have a coat closet) and its really not that bad. Right now, all I have in that closet is my vaccum, but we have a little room that leads to the garage so I can keep it there instead.
We also keep all of our shoes in our room as well.
I REALLY want to do this lol

I'm clearly the minority here but I think this would look a little silly, unless you had a very wide closet.
It isn't practical enough for me to lose my closet space.

Re: Turning closet into entry storage - anyone do this?
Love it! I'm assuming you can put everyone's shoes in the baskets (what I would do, b/c shoes on the floor of the entry drive me nuts). Or esp now with the cold weather you can do hats & gloves ect. You can do wall hooks for your everyday jackets/coats...scarves ones that you just grab and go. Anyway looks so cute, my mudroom is sort of like this,,,but not as cute of a nook like this bc we have our washer and dryer in there as well.
I saw a really cute bench like this with the baskets included in Home goods, it was by Martha stewart (it was just slightly damaged but someone handy could prob fix it no prob)
