What are some fun things you do to make tutoring more interesting?

honestly, i don't make it fun. i make it serious work time.

i take that hour to go over as much school work with them as i can. we don't have time for games or gimmicks at the rate i charge.

what age group do you tutor? i do think you need to have some exciting things to do with the little ones. i worked with 1st grade and had decoding bingo, sight words. used magnetic letters to try and make words and stretch sounds, etc.

I cant say i do anything fun either. Its only 45 mins and i have stuff to get done. Sometimes i might give points (up to 5) as to how well behaved/motivated etc the student was and after lets say 40 points, i will bring a treat (homemade brownies, munchkins) as long as mom is ok w/ it

It depends who you are tutoring.. For the younger ones, I have turned some lessons into games. (not all) Its another approach to them remembering the concept. For the younger ones who have academic issues, its a long day to begin with and then to sit with a tutor- for an hour and do additional work-it can be torturous.
