Twin Mommies...when did you start to show?

I am just curious as to when you began to show or pop and how much wait did you gain each month? I don't know what is appropriate each month.

I had the slightest little bump around 13 weeks - popped at 21 weeks (or so) and gained most of my weight in the middle of the second trimester and thereafter. I kept on par for "singleton" weight until about the 8th month or so.

At about 5 months. I didn't gain any weight during the first trimester... I started to gain middle of second and onward but was right in line w/ singleton weight gain.

I felt more comfortable in maternity tops at 8 weeks but I could wear some of my low-rise or stretchy pants until 16 weeks. I was carrying pretty high.

People at work reallly started to notice around week 13. I've popped a few times since thenChat Icon

As far as weight gain... my legs and arms are a bit swollen due to the edema but otherwise I'm all belly. My hips and butt didn't get any bigger as I'm still in the same pre-pregnancy pajama pants. At week 30, I'm only a few pounds more than what a singleton should be.

Re: Twin Mommies...when did you start to show?

I started to pop about my fifth month. I was right on track with the weight gain for twins. Chat Icon People could not believe I was carrying twins. However by 32 weeks, I was so swollen and taking on so much water, it looked like I gained 100 pounds. (very uncomfortable) I envied the people who have gotten back to their regular size already, as for me, I think it will took 33 weeks to put it on and it will take that long to take it off!!!Chat Icon Good luck Theresa don't worry so much about it! Hope you are restingChat Icon

I started to show around 14 weeks but really popped by 20 weeks. I really didn't get huge to after 30 weeks...a lot of people started asking me when the big day was at that point and i would say "oh like 10 more weeks" Chat Icon

However, i only gained 40 pounds with the twin pregnancy which is just about on target with what i hear some singletons gain.

Re: Twin Mommies...when did you start to show?

I started to really show around 18 weeks - I had some months where I gained like 8 our 9 pounds and some where I gained only a couple - in total I gained 42 pounds.
Nobody could believe I was carrying twins. (Myself included!)

Re: Twin Mommies...when did you start to show?

I gained 5 the first trimester. 15 the second trimester, and i think close to 30Chat Icon by the third trimester. For a total of 50. People told me I was all belly, but we all know this is never trueChat Icon

I think I started to pop around 16 weeks, the same time i started wearing maternity pants or anything with elastic waistbands.

Did you get the book, When your Expecting Twins, Multiples... by Barbara Luke. She believes their is a correlation between weight gain and carrying your twins full term. She has a specific diet and weight gain guidelines. I recommend it.
