twins?

So I am having my first "real" OB appointment today with a sono. I am 7 weeks.

I have had two previous sonos (because of pain). Both showed two sacs. The second sono however only showed a yolk sac in one. So I know that there is the possibility that the second sac is empty.

Is it still possible that it could be twins?? is it possible that the second yolk sac just want visible? That sono was done at 5 weeks.

Any experience with this, ladies? Chat Icon

Re: twins?

I think anything is possible in pregnancy! But, I had my first sono at 5wks (because of an sch) and saw both yolk sacs...I think we saw both hb's at around 6wks.
Congrats, either way! Chat Icon

Re: twins?

I definitely think 5 weeks is too soon to tell!

I had a few sonos done in the 6 week range which only showed 1 gestational sac which had no growth. The OB scheduled me for a D&C saying it was a non viable pregnancy. At 7 weeks I went in for the D&C, they did a sono first to confirm there wasn't growth or a heartbeat. Well there were 2 heartbeats!!!

Re: twins?

So when i went for my sono the ultrasound tech only saw one sac..so perhaps within the last two weeks the other sac disappeared. Either way I am happy to have even one healthy baby!
