Twins but only saw one heartbeat... Is it ok?
As I posted earlier, I am 6 weeks today and we saw 2 sacs. We saw one heartbeat. The other sac was a little behind the other. A yolk sac was seen but now I am worried that they didn't see a heartbeat yet. I know it is still early but do u think it's ok ?

the dr didnt say anything to you about it? honestly, I have no idea...I just found out that I am 5 weeks prego and I thought I was 3 weeks so I def am a novice when it comes to pregnancy. I'm just surprised the dr didnt discuss it w/you. Can you call to talk about it?

if you are 6 weeks exactly it is definitely possible that it is just too early. Next week, if you go back you should see 2 heartbeats by 7weeks or else only the one may be developing.

She didn't seem concerned at all. She said there are definitely two. I am jut getting myself so worried. I definitely would rather see both heart beats

try not to worry! it's most likely just too early. my twins have always measured a few days apart so if one is a few days behind, you may just have been too early to see its hb.

At that stage a single day could make a difference so if the one baby was growing a bit slower, it totally makes sense.

Re: Twins but only saw one heartbeat... Is it ok?
i know you dont want to hear this but the same thing happened to me. i went at 6w1d and we saw 2 sacs. one had a heartbeat and one was a little smaller and empty. they told me i had to wait another week to see what happened but dr. B was not optimistic that the second one would develop into anything. now i am nearly 30w pregnant with a singleton. the other sac stayed empty and the one with the heartbeat is my .
i was sort of upset that we lost the second one. i did IVF and we put back two perfect embryos and my betas/progest were all telling of twins. but in the end i couldnt be more grateful to have gotten this far with one healthy that i can't wait to meet.
my experience doesnt mean that there is no hope for you. every situation is different and like the other posters have said, a day or two can make a big difference with what you see. the good news is that one can be viable even if the other is not. the empty sac has not effected this pregnancy at all. it was still there at my 20w ultrascreen but it may have dissolved by now.
good luck!!

My twins have consistently been a few day apart. When we saw the heart beats i was 6w2d. The tech told me that if it were at 6 weeks baby b would not have had a heart beat yet.

ITA. I went at 5w4d and she saw two sacs and yolk sacs and fetal poles (no heartbeats yet). She warned me a million times that they may not both develop and it was way too early to tell etc. but said since each had a yolk sac that was a good sign.
Monday I was 6w4d and we saw 2 heartbeats. They were both measuring exactly the same at 6w4d. She was a little surprised as she said usually one is off by a couple days or so esp. in the beginning.
I think the fact that there is a yolk sac in the 2nd one is a really good sign. When do you go back? It doesn't seem like your doc is concerned, so try not to be. I know it's easier said than done.

6w is really early to see anything. It's great that you were able to see one heart beat already. It might just be too early to see the second one. You'll find lots of girls on here who saw only a sac and yolk sac at 6w, and no heartbeat yet, and then a heartbeat a week later. I hope that's the case for you.
