Re: Typing Yahoo in my web address bar and getting an M in front?
Great question! We're all concerned about web page spoofing. Rest assured, the URL "m.www.yahoo.com" is a valid link to a new version of the Yahoo! homepage. The "m" will be removed from the URL sometime in mid-December.
Until then, if you manually enter a URL to access a different website, make sure to not to include the "m" before "www" or you will get an error message that the page cannot be displayed. When adding a URL to your browser favorites or bookmarks, the letter "m" should be left off as well.

Did you cut and paste this or type this? I was worried about a virus or web page hijack, etc.

Re: Typing Yahoo in my web address bar and getting an M in front?
www is optional. Anything before the "yahoo.com" is optional, and often depends on how the company separates it's servers. They have a whole series of servers, and they are just organizing them with letters, apparently. Many sites have letters and/or numbers before the www, or instead of the www.

I cut and pasted it from the Yahoo answers site.

I have had that for a while. I thought that was for closer servers. I'm outside of the US, so I thought it was to make a quicker connection.
