UFT - Rallies..petitions etc..
It looks like the UFT is finally back to fighting the cuts, now that the charter nonsense is over.
I saw on uft.org that a major rally is being planned for June 16th, and that they are signing online petitions and sending letters to politicians.
The below link has everything you need to know. I actually have it as my FB status, with the hope that someone will take action.

I was at a rally in the Bronx last week....some real serious stuff. Most of the public didn't know teacher layoffs were planned. Where is the media attention to this?! There will be a HUGE (hopefully) rally on June 16 in front of city hall. I urge every teacher to do at least one thing...because even if your safe your job will be so much harder with layoffs that are planned.

I referred to it as nonsense because it appears that it is the only thing that is being focused on in education. 1,000 of teachers will loose their jobs and the only thing the union and the city are talking about are charter schools.
I'm hopeful that they can now get back to what needs to be done to save our jobs and schools.
