Uggggh, they are smoking in my office building again
Seriously, I know we have smokers here on LIF but in this day and age it is not only illegal but totally inconsiderate to smoke indoors in a place where people have to work. Thank G-d the owner of the building agrees with me. I have reported these people before but not every single time because I was trying not to be a total pest. Tonight I could literally see smoke in the hallway. I guess our smoke detectors don't work. I think I may install a new one. The landlord would not mind. There are ashes on the bathroom floor---that is just gross whether you smoke or not. I hope the landlord does not renew their lease. This was an amazing building with great co-tenants before these morons. I have seen inside their offices and I don't think they ever clean. Tonight I had to apologize to a client for the smoke smell. The client said that he is a smoker and it does not bother him. He agreed with my point that it should not be happening. I'll talk to the LL in the AM. VENT OVER!!!

I am very prone to sore throats and now I feel it and I don't think it's just in my head. I'm just not used to smoke. I never even like when people smoke in entryways but that would at least be acceptable to some reasonable people. This was clearly happening inside the building and it was heavy smoke, like from more than one person having a lit cigarette and for several hours. DH wants to call the LL for me as he deals with a lot of the administrative things for the office for me. I want to speak to him directly and tell him how gross it was tonight!!!!

I completely agree with you. I work near a hospital and it's amazing that these people stand outside the door of a hospital to have a smoke.
Common decency goes out the window for many!

That is truly sickening. Smoking on people with AIDS, cancer, etc.

I cannot stand smoking. I will start a cough and it gets worse by the second. It is illegal to smoke indoors... period!!!

Kerie I was in court last week and went into the ladies room and someone very clearly had just finished smoking in there.
I had to go to a different floor.

Wow, that's terrible.
How about an anonymous letter??
Even if it doesn't help - at least you can give them a piece of your mind!
The LL really needs to step up and do something... fine them or something.

I think he will do something. He bought out his partner's half of the building last year and he wants to make the place better. These people aren't respecting the property at all.
