Ugghhh-did I lose weight or not??
I went to the gym today. I did my regular routine for Saturday weigh-ins. I went on the treadmill for 20 mins., went to the bathroom and then weighed myself. It said I lost 5 lbs. I was thrilled to say the least. I could not believe it so after 25 mins of weights and 15 minutes on the bike, I weighed myself again. This time it said 5 lbs. more, the same as last week.
OK..I know I should not have weighed myself twice but I just could not believe it the first time.
WHAT happened and did I NOT lose anything this week?
My shirts and pants ARE much looser so I know I have lost weight and am probably gaining muscle but I don't get the scale thing-lol!!
Thanks.

Are you measuring your self as well as weighing in? It is possible to lose inches without losing weight.

No. I have noticed a difference in my clothes though. I was told (by a friend who is a personal trainer) not to weigh myself and I will see by how my clothes fit. I am a "number" girl though and am trying to get it down too-lol!

Re: Ugghhh-did I lose weight or not??
The scales at the gym aren't calibrated all the time so it's very possible the scale is just off.
ETS: When was your first official weigh-in? You weighed yourself 2x on the same day? If so, then I'm going to say the scale needs to be recalibrated. You should always use the same scale when weighing yourself.
When you went back on the bike and did the weights, I'm assuming you drank water during that time? If so, THAT would be your extra weight as well.

I weighed in 20 mins after doing the treadmill. Yes, I weighed myself 40 mins. after that. Thanks :)

Scales in general can be very tempermental. I've weighed myself on a scale, got off and immediately got back on to see a different number.
If you feel your clothes are fitting you differently thats a very positive sign! Sometimes its just hard to trust the number on the scale!

I have heard that you shouldn't weigh yourself right after a work out because you can temporarily swell/retain water afterwards. Not sure how accurate this is, but it is something I have been told.
