Ugh - my DS just fell off my bed...I feel awful and don't know what to do - pls help

My 2.5 yr old just rolled off my bed onto my hard wood floor and hit his head. I didn't see him fall but I heard him and he said he hit is head. He only cried for a second and is acting normal but, I am a nervous wreck about it. Should I call the ped? Ugh, I can't believe I let this happen Chat Icon I'm so sleep deprived with a newborn and my 2.5 yr old not sleeping that when he woke up I let him sleep in the bed with me. I had pillows all around us I have no idea how this happened...I feel like the worst mother in the whole world. What should I do?

First of all, try to relax. It happens so many times to mommies... especially sleep deprived ones. I would keep an eye on DS (and look for anything out of the ordinary) and if it would make you feel better, give the ped a call when the office opens. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

It happens to us all. Mine fell off the bed and broke his collarbone and I was laying next to him wide awake! It happens. If there are no visible injuries, the things to watch are weird behaviors/moods, don't let them fall asleep for an hour or so to monitor, throwing up, things like that. When my son broke his collarbone from it - he was miserable afterwards. I coined it teething/getting up early since I saw no signs of anything...hours later I saw he was avoiding using one side of his body...then I knew something was wrong.

Chances are if he got right up and is acting normal he's fine! My DS is 2.5 and has hit his head more times than he can count on my tile and wood floors.

If he stopped crying right away, he's most likely ok? Check his pupils. Is he vomiting?
